I hate it when people keep making a false assumption and I correct them and they still have that same assumption.

I just got up this morning and after I got dressed and was pouring myself some cereal my boyfriend said he took a little nap because he figured he kept waking me up and bam I blew a casket. In the past I have told him I wake up at night to go to the bathroom and he doesn't wake me up. Why won't he listen? He still keeps thinking he wakes me up at night after I have told him I tell him to turn down the TV, and he knows I have troubles sleeping at night but he still keeps assuming he keeps me awake. I have told him he does not. So I started to yell and scream at him Because I got so fed up with him not listening to my words I can't even be nice about it anymore so I turned into a b***h by cursing and screaming hoping he will listen this time since he has done it this time, pushed me over the line. I also told him if he was keeping me awake I'd let him know.

He stays up at night because he works graveyard so he is now a night person. He used to have troubles sleeping during the day time too and now he has gotten better. I'm used to staying up late at night till like 3 or four in the morning because I worked swing shift, but now I have switched to daytime, my body just doesn't want to sleep at night and my boyfriend already knows this so why would he keep assuming he is keeping me awake. But I think my body is starting adjust to my night time schedule. I got about five hour sleep instead of just an hour and a half or so and then I am lying in bed all night till six or seven am depending on the day of the week.

heres a funny surjestion why dont you get a baby moniter so he can hear you snoring so he'll know your actually asleep.

Theres nothing really you can do if you've told him. In time he'll just have to realise it for himself :?

It might be that he has dealt with other females who are not as direct. It is not uncommon for women to say that nothing is wrong and then expect their man to figure out what is wrong through osmosis or psychic ability. I have had to deal with this myself.

Okay, probably the wrong time to mention this but I got a hilarious mental image and had to laugh when I read that you "blew a casket" instead of a gasket.

*wipes tear away*

Ahem, okay. It sounds as if he's just trying to do all he can to help you sleep better, which is nice, but I am sure it is infuriating to tell him a fact and have him assume it isn't. I don't think there's anything I find more infuriating than telling my husband that "X" is true and having him insist that, no, "Y" is true. GRR!! ! :wall: I say, "Look, only I know my own truth. Are you inside my head right now? Just take it for what it is." Usually he only does this when we argue (two people on the spectrum in an argument is not pretty) but I can imagine the frustration if he did this ANY time.

I would try calmly putting it into words on paper, then trying to sit and explain (also calmly) that when you say something, you mean what you say, and that it frustrates you immensely when you feel as if you're not being heard.

Hope this helps.

Brings to mind a mortuary gag on a record I found in a secondhand shop, called "The World's Greatest Obscene Phone Calls":

"What I'd like to do is, s***k Sydney off one last time...and maybe sit on his face, if it doesn't ruin his makeup."

I live with an OCDite, does that count as the same thing? Oh Hell Yes it does...

I must agree, though, AS aside - even in the best of situations, men find women's signals very confusing, because they often do not mean exactly what they say.

It may have nothing to do with Autism; he's probably just trying to be considerate :D and it came across like he's ignoring you. I don't know what you can do to get your point across though, sorry :S

Same time frame and method here. Never did like the taste of soap. Learned to not cuss in front my Mother.

When I was a kid in the 80s, Mom used liquid soap to wash the dirt out of my mouth!

But she did not do this often, and does not do it anymore.
