taking breaks from main obsession?

Is it possible for people like me to take breaks from main obsessions , Sometimes I like to just relax and look up music or art. Does this distract me from my main obsession?

Yes it seems normal to me. I think that the criteria even mentions it.

Everyone needs a break sometimes. (that might be a song...)

An obsession is not a job (unless of course you were able to get a job that lets you use it!) If you take joy in it, do it. (to an extent, don't let it consume your life!) You shouldn't have to feel guilty about taking a break from something, and if you are able to take a couple day break from it, when you go back you might find it more enjoyable, and might not feel as big a compulsion to spend so much time at it.

there's a Chinese saying:

"if you choose a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life"

I get obsessed easily.

I have a few obsessions, and I flip between them periodically.

so do I. :D

My obsessions seem to go through phases, once I've sucked a particular subject 'dry' (for me) I move onto something else. I've done it with so many things, learning the Dizi, geology, wild food/mushrooms, Japan, Maya/Aztecs/Incas, though some obsessions stay with me longer than others......almost all of my hobbies seem to revolve around the aquisition of unusual facts, or objects.

I hardly ever get sick of my obsessions. :D

Time spent with my cats is never wasted.
