Sometimes I think it would be better if I avoided people altogether because I creep them out. Strangely, avoiding people also creeps them out. For example, at work, some lady seems to give me very bizarre looks; needless to say, I avoid her, but if I happen to walk by her, in the aisles, she gives me a strange look. I've only ever briefly talked to her while leaving work out of politeness. Oftentimes, when I meet someone new, I think I have had a good inversion, but I hear through indirect sources that they were creeped out. Sometimes I avoid people because I think they would be creeped out, but even when I keep to myself, they still get creeped out.

Maybe it's something about your appearance, NH. Do you by any chance have superfluous facial features, like a few extra ears or eyes? That would certainly garner some strange looks.

Are you CERTAIN people are looking at you funny? You could be imagining it ...

I'm not really always sure if I creep people out... If girls find you attractive, is there less of a chance they think you're weird? Because I've been told something along the lines of that before...

At work, you should let it be known that you have a mild variation of autism. Don't say Aspergers or Ass-burgers or they will think it's a joke. I let it be known and it transformed the attitude from "creeped out" to a bit patronizing, which turns out to be a better option. It's better to be perceived as "a type of retarded" as opposed to "a possible psychopath".

people in general are overly-critical. don't let it bother you too much. :)

Tailfins, you made me laugh. And I think you're right.
Obama said that as a black man, he learned that if he smiled and moved slowly, he didn't scare whites. I think you're right that as an AS or autistic, it's better to be seen as harmless than a possible psychopath to an NT.

I either tend to creep people out or make them laugh cause they think what I say is either funny or *shudder* precious

Extra "eyes" and "ears" certainly creep people out...

It's just creepy.

People are easy to creep out. I do it on purpose sometimes for fun. Sometimes I spell out cryptic and disturbing messages with the fridge magnets in our student kitchen. Ialways make sure i make the words as detailed as possible.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what do you spell out with the magnets on the student fridge?

Be aware, when people are giving you weird looks... I'll quote from a TV show I once saw. One person said "That guy was giving me a weird look," and the other person said "Hey, maybe 'weird' is all he's got." It might not be you at all.
