Have been wondering for a long time what new features that members here would like to see on WrongPlanet.
I've been waiting for a while for the codes to be put back up as they were easier for newcomers like me to use. While I've been waiting, I observed all the neat features that a friend of mine has on a forum that he goes to. It is a gaming site, not an ASD site.
I think that some new features would be interesting to have and others might find them fun to use. I like the green/blue post area, some new backgrounds would be excellent! There are also a lot of emoticons to choose from - although some are not appropriate for this family friendly site.
Thanks to all of you who participate on this poll. Thanks also to the Moderators and Alex for viewing this post.

Here's some examples from the other forum:

I'd like the dancing bannana as a Smiley!

I have seen some forums that have rich-text forms for writing messages in so that you don't even need to click preview to see what it will look like. This works by using a lot of fancy JavaScript and DOM effects. You can even copy and paste in HTML that you got right out of the browser and paste it in without ever looking at any code (HTML or bbcode)!

New background images, color schemes, and overall themes can easily be added with phpBB (the Web application WrongPlanet.net runs the forums on). Emoticon and avatar packs can also easily be added. For the feature I mentioned above, you have to use different forum software besides phpBB.

By the way, this topic should be moved to WrongPlanet.net Discussion.

Please, nothing that makes the backgrounds and surrounds of posts,
never mind the text itself, more colourful or "jazzy"

Simpler, cleaner, is much less visually disturbing and much easier to appreciate.
Less is more. and I am against all "bells and whistles" that distract from appreciating the basic message in a post.

(No, I don't do "fashion", either.)

And change has an inherently negative component. I love it when things stay the same.

(Then they bug me by changing, "Improving" the layout at my local supermarket, or the conditions on my bank account... )

I have previously written posts about these things in the WrongPlanet Discussion forum, however not many people answered. This forum is constantly read, so I thought I would get more information on likes/dislikes.
I appreciate your above information, Neant. Nice to see a familiar person!

A quick and efficient spell check would be good. Although I often omit whole words from my posts and don't even notice it when I preview. Nothing will help that nor the ones whose spelling is so far off that the checker is completely lost. It would help quite a few of us, though.

I would also like the option to use a black page with gray text, but that's a little more involved.

"Drag & Drop would be nice."

I don't get it. I just opened two windows and dragged and dropped that right in this frame. I've just done the same thing from the properties box of a pic on another page I was reading on. What doesn't work with D&D?

(I didn't realize how huge the pic was, so I ditched it, but it fell right in to place, without 'control' or right drag.)

Yeah, I was thinking more in terms of pictures which require html for simple copy and paste operations. I didn't realize you could cite a picture from properties. Thanks for the tip!

I would like more font options, as I don't know what the other options are.

By the way, it's good to hear from you! How have you been?

Less is more.
I don't understand why we'd need fancy font, colors and wysiwyg editors (I hate those, btw. they never work as they should).
I hate it when people use colored text everywhere and stuff like that. I love IRC channel bots that kick those people.
Text size and underline, bold and italic to emphasize things are useful sometimes.
Inserting images is a useful feature as well.

No, I don't want anything but the default. In fact, a bit more spartan wouldn't do any damage.
