Does anyone else have a major problem repeating things? For instance if you have ever worked as a cashier and told by management to ask every customer to sell whatever. Thats just one example but it takes alot of mental energy for me to repeat things in general either at work or in normal everyday conversation. Does anyone relate to this?

That has always been something that irritated me as well... being asked to repeat myself because someone couldn't understand what I said... not sure why it bothers me so much, but could be because it happens so often.

Never bothered me very much.

Sometimes my friends make fun of me though, because they won't hear something I said, they'll ask me to repeat myself, and then I'll say it again, exactly the same way.

I don't think I repeat myself so much as I repeat others.

For example, if my mother says, "Amber, I want you to do the laundry", I'll repeat several times, "Do the laundry, do the laundry." I think it buys me time to process what she's said to me. To me it just seems like I'm affirming my task, but I've been told it's weird.

I think it's called echolalia, yes?

I think if we do it ourselves, it's echolalia, but if someone asks us to repeat what was just said, then it's just repeating for someone else's benefit.

I hope that made sense.

My kids have asked me to repeat myself and I feel a little bit dumb because I honestly don't even know what I just said. My 6 yr old gets frustrated a lot.
