I was never a thumb sucker, but had a big problem with biting my nails that started around 6 or 7. I would bite them down to the quick and STILL bite them.
I never was attached to a blanket but I always had to have a stuffed animal with me. I still carry a small Tails the fox plushie with me when I go places. I sit him around in diffrent places and take pictures of him.

so I have an excuse to why I have him with me. I don't know why, but even as a litlte kid, I always felt better if I had a stuffed animal with me.
I'm a nail - biter myself....I tend to pick at/bite my cuticles, too....I've done it for years now, and even if I were to break the habit, my nails/cuticles would probably never grow back normally and be scarred.
I can totally relate to feeling generally more at - ease when you have a stuffed animal nearby. I've often thought that maybe if I were allowed to hold a small stuffed animal in my hands at all times during the day (I have a little stuffed dolphin that could fill this need very well) then it would take my mind off of biting my nails whenever I was nervous...which is pretty much all the time, or whenever I have to leave my room to go outside and go among people....

And the anxiety doesn't go away even when I get to return home.
Your Tails plushie is very cute, too.
