I'm sorta embarassed at this.

I like building electronic circuits, all the time. And everytime I built a circuit that can "run on it's own" I have tears a little when it's actually working.

Recently, I built a self playing synthesizer. You play an audio tape, and it can self play the leads or rythm. Nothing useful, but when it's working playing really great songs by itself, I get tears.

What gives? If it's something I have to play myself, no tears.

I just experienced something like that today, although it does not happen to me on a regular basis. Ever since I left Texas, I've been writing lots of songs, but I've been primarily working them out in my head because I didn't want my landlords to hear me playing songs in the "rough draft" phase.

Today, I went to my new apartment, where I have more privacy, and played for a good hour at least. The new songs sounded so beautiful, they made me cry a little. I've never been so moved by something I created - usually, my writing process is somewhat emotionless. But these songs . . . they felt like a gift from some other dimension.

Another thing I noticed, I feel emotional, when this machine plays music I could never dream of playing on my own.

Is it the feeling of creating something that's "making intelligent decisions", and doing it better than I could?

I think you are not alone in crying.. whether it's just a few tears and some feelings, or actual bawling... about things that seem to make no sense.

I believe we've even had another thread about this sort of thing some time ago.

I have these moments although most of them come about when it relates to someone else.
It could be moments when a person overcomes some difficulty, or is especially moving in their art, there's really no pattern that I have discerned yet.

Do these tears bother you at all?
If they do not, then I'd say be happy you have emotions that you can display.
If you were left sobbing and so anguished you could not function, I would say you might look into it further.

btw, sounds cool... the things you build and do.

it doesn't really bother e.. im just more curious why it gets to me at all..

to me, it's like i created an electronic life that actually thinks and decides which notes to play to go to a rythm of the song, or lead.

Ok, I seem to be also emotional over movies..

Titanic i cry my brains out, even though I know what's going to happen.. it's the thought it really happened that gets to me.

Remember the old Jetsons Movie from 1990? Well, I even get sad on that movie, especially the song "Home" from Tiffany, when it plays at the end.
