I don't mean because they also have bi polar or are going through PMS but just have what a NT would consider "mood swings". I was telling my mom how much I don't want Hillary to be president because everytime she had PMS, there will be a state of the union adress. My mom then told me that she was too old to have PMS so I said there would be one everytime she had a mood swing. Then my mom asked me if if she had a mental problem like Autism or something. Hillary, Autistic? That's a laugh. My mom has also told me that when I was younger I had them a lot. Do Austic people have mood swings?

Of course! Think of all the co-morbid conditions enlisted with AS.

I can't imagine ppl NOT having mood swings, no matter their diagnosis.

Ohhh ya, of course I am a dude and my mood changes everyday, usually at work when I am most stressed and all. Anywhere outside of work I am very level headed but at work I go from energetic and happy to miserable and not wanting to talk to anyone at all, all in 1 night, usually their is a reason behind it, like someone doing something stupid around me, but sometimes thats just how I am.

yes, autistics can have mood swings without it being an addon diagnosis.
am used to live with a lower functioning aspie who had mood swings, maybe would get the idea what shes like when know that am have always described her as 'the aspie b****h from hell' on here [she can be saying how much she loves someone, and the next she will be screaming at them, throwing her cd player at them, throwing her tv remote at them, eating her s***t and throwing it at them, getting sick and rubbing it in her hair, throwing everyone elses belongings out the window etc. shes on liquid tegretol for that-the meds make a difference between her flooding the house and smashing the industrial strength fire alarms so they keep going off and her having a mostly calm night.
she started refusing her meds just before am was moved from there, she had always followed am around and screamed to set off severe self injuring meltdowns and seizures when she was like that, everyone had begged to get am moved from there, but they only did anything about it when she was the one getting injured because she'd get too close and am would end up KOing her.
she has not got bipolar apparently, and when am typed a letter to the manager why cant they section her for a short time to make her stable [during one of her severe swings],she said she is not able to be sectioned for it as her problem is not MH,it's part of her AS [that from a manager who tried to get am sectioned because of autism related high complex needs].

am have heard bad mood problems are common in autistics, and that includes specifics like bipolar to.
there are also the other things like hormones, mood swings in autistics are supposed to get worse during when a child is growing, and hormones are unstable, maybe that is why had them worse as a child?
diet can also cause them,as autistics commonly have restricted diets, they may not get the right things, and may have mood swings set off by something theyre eating or drinking.
