Don't ask when I got this from:

-Who's always desperate for attention (especially in having some kind of relationship).
-Who always likes competition a lot.
-Who tries to be like everybody else.
-Who's always super-sensitive.
-Who's always is super-obsessed with one (or few) things.

Huh, weird. That's sounds almost like me in a way. At least, how I've been feeling lately. Mostly. Interesting. -Power Girl

That's me, minus the sensititivity, and just regularly obsessed, not super. NTM I'm not really desperate for attention, I just enjoy it mroe than most Aspies.

That sounds like me from when I was a kid. I wanted to be like everyone else so I tried really hard being like them. I was also desparate for attention, I wanted friends, lots of them.

I don't think I ever liked competition a lot.

I'm not sure what you mean by sensitive. Feelings, emotions, or senses?

And super obsessive, I was that way I was always looking up on my obsessions. Now I don't really do that. I go to AS forums now. I sometimes look up Spokane and B&J. Maybe I was super obsessive on I2 because I posted a lot on my obsessions.

-Who's always desperate for attention (especially in having some kind of relationship).
Not me. I like to talk to people online (only because I can't physically see them), but not in real life. In my daily life, I avoid people completely and do not desire any relationships other than with the people I'm related to in some way, shape or form.

-Who always likes competition a lot.
Not me. **Side Note - I learned a bad habit from a therapist once who told me when I was twelve (I'd been seeing someone for social phobia) that in order to 'best relate' to people, I should listen to what the other person says and then find something in my life that's similar and share it with them. This was supposed to create 'common ground.' Problem is, she was wrong. I still do it to this day (out of habit), but other people take it as if I'm "competing" with them in misery stories. I've had a sh*tty life and when I dig into my past and offer up something from it in order to 'relate' to other people, I'm accused of trying to look like I've got it worse than everyone else. I try not to mention my life stories any more, but eventually it slips out. Other than that occasional slip-up which can 'appear' competitive, I don't 'compete' with anyone -- at all.

-Who tries to be like everybody else.
I used to care about this, and I obsessed over it for many years, but not any more. I can't be like everyone else, so there's no longer any point in trying.

-Who's always super-sensitive.
Yes, I can be supersensitive, especially if I begin to suspect that one or more people are enjoying a private joke at my expense. Then I turn into a complete b**ch.

-Who's always is super-obsessed with one (or few) things.
Oh yes...obsessions aplenty.

Okay, I was very tendered hearted when I was a kid. Lot of things hurt my feelings and I got very emotional when I was about 12 when I got my period. Lot of things my parents said, I'd get very upset so they had to walk on eggshells about every two weeks before my period comes because that was when my hormones would kick in. I also ended up seeing a shrink when I was 11 because I could no longer move on. When I was younger, kids would be mean to me and the next day, it be a new day, so I wouldn't be upset anymore about what had happened the day before but when I was in fifth grade, it all changed. Also hormones my mother said. When I was 13, I was put on birth control and it made me less emotional, so my parents didn't need to walk on eggshells anymore, nor my brothers. It also helped my period too, it came when it was supposed to come instead of coming early, it also got rid of the hot flashes and the cramps.

Yes, a lot of people who don't get a lot of good social interaction, and who want some degree of it, are like that.

That's a personality trait anyone can have or lack, autistic or not.

Quote:

That's what people do when they want to fit in sometimes, autistic or not.

Quote:

Another thing that can happen in both autistic and non-autistic people, but very common in autistic people certainly.

Quote:

That is considered an autistic trait in itself.

I don't know whether I've known someone who has combined those things or not, but it certainly sounds plausible.

Apart from the competition thing (which I didn't like, because I always felt so much pressure to be 'perfect'), that sounds very like me as a teen.

In particular, I was absolutely desperate to be in some kind of boy-girl relationship, but I put guys off by my sheer desperation. It may be an Asperger thing, but in my case at least it wasn't helped by coming from a background where good looks, having lots of friends, and having boyfriends flocking after you were essential, and if you didn't cut it in those areas (and it was made clear to me that I didn't) you were not lovable, period. So, combination of being desperate to be popular but not a clue as to how to do it...disastrous. If I could go back to that time as an adult, I'd tell a few of the adults around me a few home truths.

Oh crap you just described me. I'm desperate for attention from a few selected people, otherwise I don't care but from a particular person their attention is like a drug to me. I don't like competition but in the car I have to beat everyone and win. The others definitely apply to me.

:D That reminds me of what a friend wrote about before she was diagnosed. She said when she first heard about autism, she read the description and then thought, "Who had me followed!?!"

Most of the time I hate being the center of attention. I try and avoid attention.
I am not very competive. I do things for fun.
I use to want to be like everyone else but now it has faded. I am happy being myself but I would like to be more normal
I am super sensitve. Been that way my whole life.
I am obessed with lots of things at different times.
