I normally wear gloves all day at home because otherwise I bite my fingers too much. Friday I wore them to work because the stress of working again has made me bite them even more, and I thought perhaps wearing gloves would be less weird for my co-workers than seeing a grown adult woman biting her fingers. I haven't told anyone there that I am high-functioning autistic.
No one said anything. I think I might wear them again on Tuesday.
My goal is to make gloves high-fashion so that in 2 years everyone will be wearing gloves, then maybe I can fit in. Anyone work for Versace or Vera Wang?
am a glove wearer to for circulation and flesh biting problems.
gloves are a help with lessening severity of bites, but problem am have with them is they quickly tear up as they're not designed for tactile heavy autistics, have gone through many different types and full fingered ones have to be taken off during a lot of things,eg,they wont work on the tracking pad of a laptop, they make it hard to type etc. am use very tough fingerless wheel chair gloves, they are a tough outer material, have a lot of middle layers and have a final soft and smooth layer underneath, they also have lots of padding on the outside but are easy enough to wear all day and do anything with.
am thinking of designing a pair just for autistics/people with SID type problems, that uses all the right materials and are super strong.
