need advice- tell someone I think they have AS?

My son's swimming teacher is not a very good teacher (of preschoolers anyway). His other swimming teacher was great. The first teacher was animated and made the whole class into a game, and my son loved it. The second teacher is monotone and doesn't play games and doesn't make it fun. So my son stopped listening to her after about one minute. This frustrated her and she tried to be more controlling and demanding to make him cooperate. We left early, and I decided that I won't take him back. I don't want him to have a negative experience learning to swim, then hold that feeling the rest of his life. I think this teacher has AS. Should I tell her? I was thinking of writing a letter to her.

I don't think you can judge someone just by their teaching ability whether or not they have AS. Some people are just not that good at teaching. Some people are not good teaching children. I don't think you should bring it up with her. She might take it personally.

I can't believe you are trying to diagnosis someone with AS based on their swimming class. Some people are just not good at teaching and it has nothing to do with AS. Some people are not good with kids. Some people just don't have good personalities. That has nothing to do with AS. Some people who are new at a job and unsure of themselves may not be that great at it. That has nothing to do with AS.

To tell someone they have AS is crass. To tell the swim teacher she has AS just because she is a lousy teacher is even worse. If you aren't happy with the teacher then find another class for your child and leave diagnosing AS to the neuropsychologists. Just because someone sucks at something doesn't mean they are on the spectrum.

Ticker, you can take your attitude somewhere else! I asked this question about whether this is socially appropriate because I have Asperger's Syndrome, and I can't tell what is appropriate! Good Gracious!

Well, i doubt the teacher would take it nicely. I think you would need to know a person really well to be able to tell if they have AS and even then its not certain that you would notice. In this particular case, i wouldnt say anything to her. She might just be a bad teacher who is bad with children as well.

OK, so I don't think I want to take my son back to swimming, but my husband said that he thinks we should give it one more try. Opinions?

First off you don't even know her so it is none of your buiness. Everyone has different teaching styles..........
I experienced that back in school with teachers. Even NT's are monotone and boring. And don't make classes fun..
