I'd search the forums, but every time I try to do a search, it brings me to Google instead :x

Anyway, my mom found some article from a magazine about supplements (Bs, omegas, flaxseed oil, etc.) and she asked if I'd be willing to try it if she can find any of the stuff cheap.

Still doing some research around the Net, but so far, the article itself was more informative than what I'm finding.

I told her that you guys were mentioning gluten/casein free diets, but I don't think I could go to those kinds of extremes. She agreed with me.

I take a multivitamen, omega 3, and B100 complex....when I remember to  I hate to swallow pills so I think I tend to "forget" sort of on purpose. I haven't taken them consistantly enough to know if they help with depression and cognitive issues but I don't thinkk they wil hurt you and if you have digestive issues like IBS, I think they are a good idea.

I take 1 pill of omega 3 and 6 fishoil per day.
The effects on me are more control of my physical movements and a clearer brain.
I never eat fish period because i find it absolutely disgusting.
So this is my way of getting the healthy things from fish.
My parents came with the idea in the past when they were convinced that it helped your brain develop better.

I've never taken anything (other than the odd multi-vitamin), and I believe that a lot of it has merit and a lot of it doesn't.

For instance, a friend of mine and his sons are all AD/HD. Their psychiatrist got them to start taking Omega-3 (apparently the 6 and 9 don't make much difference other than needing a certain balance of them) in large quantities, much more than the dose on the side of the bottle. They're taking four or five grams a day! (The one on medication takes less.)
The older son says they make a huge difference for him in terms of reducing restlessness and distractibility; the younger son says he feels they help him concentrate more, but hasn't elaborated. They help my friend be more attentive and less jumpy, but don't help with all aspects of it.
So yeah - honestly, if I could find affordable Omega-3, I'd take it.

Be careful, though. Not all of them are worth the money or the effort, and some don't do anything at all. Be judicious, and try to get reliable testimony. AND: make sure your doctor(s) know what you're taking and what you're trying. It can make a difference.

Outside of the texture, and possibly skin, WHAT could you find disgusting about most clean white fish, such as COD or TROUT? Frankly, I LIKE them

Fishbones :? I cant think of anything worse... Its horrible to get something like that in your mouth. Its common to eat a lot of fish here, but i cant stand fishbones. I can eat fish, but i spend a lot of time looking through the bits of fish to see if i find bones. Its just horrible.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference if you get your Omegas from flaxseed or fish?
I personaly don't like to eat anything that swims in it's own(and the worlds) largest toilet...but I'm a bit odd, I guess.

I dont really know, but i guess that some omega supplements may have a lot of stuff added too it thats not neccesarily in fish. Whether thats good or bad i dont know.

And i dont think you're weird for not eating fish, its not exactly my favorite meal either. I tend to avoid it as best i can.

I take several supplements, including B12 and Omega-3. They don't seem to help my AS symptoms, but they help my health in other ways.

The one supplement I'm taking that might be having an affect on my AS symptoms is eleuthero, which may be making my meltdowns less frequent... it's too early to tell though, because I haven't been taking it for very long.

It might be a bit more expensive to produce, I think. Although somethings that come for animal product verses plant don't have the same fatty acids or vary in the complex someway. For instance Phosphatidylserine from bovine cortex is different from the soy one. It is the BC one that has most of the substantial evidence. But it is not possible to take it anymore because it is banned and it is too risky because of prion attack such as variant CJD.

Animals who have been free-range as opposed to grain-fed (or bonemeal fed, ick!) naturally produce the omega-3 fats. So the next time you are at your local farmer's market, ask them what they feed their animals, and if it's mostly plants you know the meat is going to be good for you! Plus plant-fed meat tastes much, much better anyway!

I take a combination of B vitamins and trimethylglycine (TMG) that is aimed at reducing oxidative stress in the blood (imbalance of metabolites). Oxidative stress is widespread but it has been reported that autism spectrum folks have a tendency to higher levels.

The upshot is that I have reduced the frequency of what I call energy "slumps" that have plagued me for at least 25 years. These are periods of 30 minutes to two hours when I will start feeling weak and a little "sick". The spells always pass, but cut into my ability to work. So I recommend my combination to almost anyone: B12, TMG, folate, plus a B-complex. The individual components alone have not worked for me.

Wow! Those kids must have constant diarrea from taking so much. I really don't think taking that much in supplement form can be good for you, but if they seem to think it works. It could possibly be the placebo effect too. I take a dose a few times a week along with my regular multi vitamin. I don't really know if i works or not, but it's reasonable to take it either way just in case, especially since I probably don't get much of it in the regular foods I eat.

TOTALLY works!! i take (all solgar) v2000 vits; as i often dont eat well, so it helps me, but high dose vit b- DEFINATLY!! ! in fact, i just started on it again in april and realies how incredibly depressed id been since christmas without it- about 80% improvement without it.
it def helps.
i also take udo's oil- when i remember to buy it- also very good- a combo of flax and other oils- also REALLY notice the difference; also helps pmt, as does the higest dose vit e casules, which i take for my skin, as they stop me getting spots and make my skin glow.

dont think there is a diff between flax and fish- there are plenty of vegitarian options if you dont klike the taste of flax (even ina smoothie, its noticable), or you can can take it as a capsule. i asked in a million health food shops, and they all recomended udo's oil.
udo being a bloke, not some weird plant!
