What do people think of that movie, Mozart and the Whale. It is a nice watch, but is it really accurate? The movie shows the life of people on the autism spectrum (mainly two people). There are some parts of the movie that seem accurate, but other parts I just can't tell. If you have seen the movie, do you think it is accurate on showing how people with autism really are?

I could relate to both of them in a lot of ways. I think certain things were overdone, though.. Like the thing with both of them basically having savant abilities, like so many movies about autistics. Donald's place reminded me a lot of how extremely messy i can be(and i don't generally appreciate other people messing with my mess, either), and i do some of the same sort of stimmy movements that he does. And i have lots of animals, just like both of them(which i also talk to, lol). Some of the misunderstandings in conversation seem like things that could have easily happened to me, too.

It was a hard movie to make, I think. They were struggling to find a balance, you could sense that in the presentation. The first part of the movie, the characters are trying to explain what Asperger is to an unaware audience, and it feels kind of awkward. Some of the behvaiour throughout the film seems over-stated (when is it ever not in Hollywood lol) but the general vibe of it I thought was pretty accurate.

No one aspie is the same. I was just chatting to a friend of mine who's thinking of going for a diagnosis. But she just can't relate to the thing about being interested with numbers. Even though that might be a trait in most aspies, some don't like numbers at all. So whenever I see depictions of aspies or aspie-like behaviour, there's always some things that click, and others that don't really fit with me personally, and I guess it's the same for everyone.

I've seen the movie. The way the people acted in the group, people don't act that way in mine I go to. But it was interesting they made everyone be different on the spectrum. Isabelle was the mildest. Donald would be second.

The story was based on Jerry Newport and his wife so stuff that happened in the movie happened to Jerry or to Isabelle but they changed it. They made Isabelle more mild. Jerry told me at IMDB his wife is more effected by AS than Isabelle was.
So it was good they made her close to normal just to show that not all aspies come off as weird or awkward. But then lot of people didn't think she was aspie and even my aunt said the same but yet there is me. She knows I have it.

I saw both of me in Donald and Isabelle. I'm shy yeah and I am also outgoing. I look at people off and on. I don't like messes oh yeah and the way Isabelle treated Donald, I mothered my first ex because he acted like a child. I also hate waiting just like Isabelle hated. She also seemed more flexible. I'm pretty flexible too. I also loved rocking on horses when I was little and I wondered whee Isabelle got hers and how can she ride it without breaking it? I also love to talk and that was Isabelle all right. I have also jumped fom one topic to my obsession and then back to my normal topic. Donald doing that with numbers reminded me of Benny & Joon and how kids came up to Donald and asked him a question, I can remember kids asking me questions on the playground. But I'm not exactly like these people because no aspie in the same.

Oh yeah that loud mouthing talking woman, I talk loud too but not like that. They exaggerated it.

Donald and Isobelle remind me so much of me and my best friend it's scary, except for the fact none of us have special talents and we don't fall out like Donald and Isobelle. I related most to Isobelle's way of speaking only I'm shyer and I'm not bothered by metal sounds.

I think that Isabell's character was way overdone.
