It is - it's where there are (e.g.) 8 identical desks for every 10 people and anyone can sit at any desk - so in practice the people who get in early can sit where they like, & the people who get in later have nowhere to sit.

You are not allowed to "personalise" your space & have to put everything away every night.

This is NOT the way I prefer to work - I am very territorial & like my own space & to be able to leave work overnight & find everything exactly the way I left it next morning!

But it's the rules, so in that case they should apply to EVERYONE equally - no exceptions!! !!

I usueally follow written rules and prefer such ordinances to be written and not oral. Rules can be changed when oppressive/unworkable/outdated, and I have been party to this. :)

I don't know about rules but I always follow laws because I know what happens when you don't you get thrown into a jail with a bunch of people who might not be so nice. This is a strong incentive and is why I never break any laws!

I prefer reading over hearing. I learn more easily when I read something, not hear something, or read and hear something at the same time.

Call them strong personal rituals. Sub-OCD, but certain patterns exist. Uncomfortable in self-analysis here, but get very touchy about disturbances in daily routines developed by me, for me. Opposite of A-Team, hate it when a plan doesn't come together -- part of life, but not cool.

Far as rules and laws written by others, non-technical in nature, have always had deep problems. These only exist in the minds of those who believe in them, and then only where the believers are! Worse than the tooth fairy, because most adults swallow this nonsense. One poster said something about obeying laws or getting put in jail, most ridiculous thing to think about, like it was universal gravitation. Obey most laws because most laws are about not hurting each other; the rest of them can burn on the paper they were written on!

It all depends on the rule. Things that do more harm than good to others should be avoided. I don't particularly agree with rules against doing what you'd like if it harms only yourself, though I personally wouldn't get involved in such things. And then there is that kind of rule that seems just to exist for the sake of a rule being there, that has no logical justification for existing. Those should be questioned and torn apart, for being of no use whatsoever to anyone but bureaucrats and control freaks.

oh yes... I do things that people think that I am crazy, ret*d or something. Now I have better sense of it, but when I was young I did a lot of things that made people ask me if "I was feeling right"... "sure, why?"
Fortunately people used to be very polite 15 year ago, I think today they would just drag me out and through me away, maybe call the cops... I don't know... bad experiences happening now.
