Do you generally have to be super smart to be a Aspie?

I am smart though. I was put through public school for 19 years.

I could have done the work but they held me back.

Well all come in different shapes and sizes, you do not have to be super smart to be an aspie, generaly we are all autistic. We all have our special skills even if it does not feel like it sometimes.

The IQ should be in the normal range if you have Asperger's. I have read that very mild mental retardation can occur. Some with Asperger's are experts in a chosen area and are recognized for their "genius" but not everyone actually is one.

Ok thanks. I think I am normal IQ. I seem to know alot. People always say how smart I am.

I could just be a slow learner as well.

I do have areas of where I am a expert.

I have a high IQ but it seems only to come out and show with my obsessive interests. Of course every one I know doesn't share an interest in astronomy, so they usually only see my clumsy socially inept side.
