What is it with autism(high or low) and holograms or neon lights? What is it? Any ideas?

Anyone have an unusual attraction to 3D holograms or neon lights? I thought this was common.

I researched holograms and boy oh boy are they a hot item right now. I never realized how much they have infiltrated the business and medical world. Cities and cars are designed hologramically/holographically(word?).

The newest research is fullogram in which the viewer interacts with the object.

My son is ecstatic when he comes into contact with a hologram.

Maybe it's the rendering of reality?

I saw this in Minority Report. Interacting with images directly is an amazing concept and could be used to make fully interactive games.

I HATE NEON!! !! !! Given the frequency, and the similarity to flourescent lights, and how many here hate THOSE, I imagine MOST SPD or autistic people hate them!

(I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone)

I don't know how one can feel so emotional about coloured lights?

Not sure, but he closes his eyes, shakes his head, and seems to be absorbed. He will put his head up close, touch object, and it seems to affect him somehow.

He, btw, is very high functioning and would appear to fly under the radar. (excuse the cliches)

Though Neon CAN refer to the color, it usually refers to the type of light.

Yes. In fact neon is an element itself and I think neon usually glows red. Its to do with the ions present in the gas? I can't remember. Krypton is pretty and so is Xenon. My chemistry knowledge has gone since I finished my a-levels.

Holograms look best under monochromatic light, like that given off by a Neon lamp.

I like to lose myself staring into shiny things :)

Dunno about any relation to autism, but I do highly appreciate both items =)

Christmas lights are nice, too. I have a set of LED ones I keep up all year in my room.

I used to make holograms. Real neat stuff, and the math too.
