Wonderful
Great, so my post got deleted.
Well thanks a f*****g bunch. It took me over an hour to write that.
It really makes me wonder what this place is really about. I write a thread about probably the most important positive thing I've experienced in my AS life and it gets deleted simply because it could be seen as contraversial.
I actually found something that removed my entire social retardation for a whole night, but of course I'm not allowed to share that with you all, despite it being potentialy the most important thing in the treatment of AS.
Wow well thanks. Great. Shows how much you really care about the community.
It really makes me laugh how you can be foolish enough to throw away a solution simply based on morals.
Here's a hint. Stop being so f*****g narrow minded. If you don't fancy taking my advice thats perfectly fine, make whatever decisions you feel is best for yourself, but to deny others this solution is just f*****g stupid.
Maybe I'll post that thread again if I can be bothered to write it all out again.
In the meantime good luck with all your 'aspie awareness' bollocks and you're 'it's not me! its the azburgers syndromez!! !!' crap.
Or you can be like me and actually try and do something about it, find a solution, make others aware of the solution...
And the end of the day which one do you think will get you further in life?
well thats the complete opposite of what I learnt the other night. And I'm talking from first hand experience here.
Not to be funny but I found a short-term solution which is more than you'll ever achieve with pointless awareness campaigns or whatnot.
I would have thought people here would be more strong-minded when it comes to issues like these. Clearly not.
Nope, it would still be exactly the same chemical. Just socially acceptable instead.
For heart disease? Yes. Cancer? Yes. Tylenol for a headache? Maybe. Some dubious medication for mental issues? Not likely.
First, ASD is not mental illness. There is no magic pill. Next, most mental illness medications are suppressants rather than treatments. Third, what you treat your mind with affects your whole mind(your whole body in fact), not just the problematic areas. Ever hear "too much of a good thing is bad?"
I've had the "privilege" of witnessing the effects of MDA and E (and alcohol) on people on a almost nightly basis for more than a decade. Like alcohol, it doesnt make them scintillating conversationalists, It just makes everyone equally stupid. What seems so profound in your altered state comes across as the philosophy of a 70 IQ nitwit to anyone that is sober.
Legal behavior does not connote socially acceptable behavior.
Alcohol is a good example. Its legal, and people do (and say) very stupid things when under its influence.
Cigarettes are legal too, but rapidly becoming socially unacceptable(and mostly are in public places). The burden on the health care system is not socially responsible.
Methadone is a legally prescribed drug, but it is addictive and has effects that can lead to socially unacceptable behavior such as impaired driving.
Percodan, Vicodin, and Percocet are very addictive and misuse is socially unacceptable. Zanax and Valium as well.
Ritalin, a medicine often prescribed to people on the spectrum is an amphetamine, otherwise known on the street as speed. Adderall is as well. You can find posts at WP that relate peoples bad experiences with their doctors idea of this treatment.
When I was a teen a certain anti-nausea drug was popular as a cheap form of LSD. It would be socially unacceptable for me to name it. Even though its legal.
You cannot hide poor judgment and behavior behind a facade of legality. And if the mods shut down your rave reviews of the wonders of nasty chemicals, well, thats just them abrogating socially unacceptable behavior.
Sorta like the guy that came here and suggested that lonely aspies should make friends with white supremacists. Do you think thats a good idea too?

Drugs can be dangerous though, I took some prescibed drugs and turned into a maniac, I would hate to know what could hapen with unprescribed drugs. Plus you can have long term effects, I have never experimented and hopefully never will.

There's nothing that can make people understand body language, be socially appropriate if they have ASD issues with it. Neither taking away speech issues or anything else. And then there is still the whole matter of neurologically altered perception.
I don't doubt that anxiety and emotional awkwardness can be lessoned with meds or drugs.
If a person is mainly withdrawn and feels disconnected because they have anxiety or feel uncomfortable with other people (not because of sensory issues), then I imagine filling them with anything state of mind altering will do wonders.
Just filling up a shy person with alcohol can suddenly makes them super connecting and social. They might become social, well liked, outgoing, appreciated. I've seen it and found the change of some to be very drastic.
But that all has little to do with actual autism spectrum disorders themselves.

It is said that it takes two to tango. "first hand experience" is NOT truly possible! Do you know WHAT the user felt(maybe), AND how it was perceived(NO WAY)!?!?!?!? Still, Social prowess is NOT THE thing that people need. Frankly, I am HAPPY they deleted that thread!
Nope, it would still be exactly the same chemical. Just socially acceptable instead.
That's dumb. Socially accepted and legal are NOT the same thing. There are lots of examples where something is one and not the other.
Legal behavior does not connote socially acceptable behavior.

Yeah, and they usually think it makes everything BETTER!
I rather have a meltdown, than deal with cigarettes.
Many don't really do anything different.
Yeah, I don't like the few times MY posts were apparently deleted, but the thread discussed here repulsed me! Besides, does anyone REALLY want to get addicted to a drug for a mercurial ideal?
Wow, WHO suggested THAT! Frankly, it would probably be a good idea to stay away, even if you agreed with them 100% and were white.
Well thanks a f***ing bunch. It took me over an hour to write that.

Ok, so I take it I figured what the madness you were talking about in the thread was. You should talk about that stuff in the adults forum. There are countless of reasons your post was deleted. I'd imagine a thread recommending drugs to people would really cause parents to stop many members here from coming anymore.

there are some meds that can improve and fully bring on speech from people who are even completely [no sound] non verbal, the support staff am have from the NAS said another client of hers recently started on one and he has began to speak a little, and that they are trying to get the medication phobic [they have not allowed him to have even basic pain killers for years so he has had nothing to cope with that either] parents to agree to allow him have his meds increased as he's only on a tiny amount,am not sure what one he is on but can find out next monday if want?
the problem is,not everyone with autism has NV or SI [non verbal /speech impairment] for the same causes,so what might work for one wont work for another.
the WP community have no control over what happens to the thread, its mods need to speak to if have a problem with this.

Not drugs, thats for sure.
Try reading the post instead of knee-jerking, please. "Drugs" was not one of the which, at all. Anti-drug today is a lot like Anti-Jew was 100 years ago, it doesn't seem wrong when most people say it's right. Fact is, drugs help more people than they hurt, and most recreational users will never become addicts. This isn't a subject for all ages, and moving it was the right thing, but don't flame in non-response to a question.

That's interesting! Thanks for correcting and explaining. I didn't know there are some types of speech impairments in autism that are treatable by meds. It would be great if you can find out what med he got prescribed.
