I've started a blog:

Lovin' Autism

I've started it in an attempt to stem the flow of mercury myths, but I may have simply attracted the more aggressive, violent, "believe what I say because I saw a celebrity say it" pro-mercury myth types into lurking...

What do you think? Is this a dead-end tactic, a waste of time, or should I continue?

it's definitely not a waste of time. Parents read a lot of blogs on the internet and google indexes them all so quite a few people should read each post.

Read it, liked it. Think I'll bookmark it for future reading. Keep going.

I think it's a good idea. There will always be idiots in this world who want to attack you; I'd see this as an opportunity to educate them a little.

Wth is up with that lurker guy?! !

I think it's always a good idea to self-advocate, educate and try to bring about understanding :)

It certainly is not a waste of time, but I fear it may take up a lot of your time.

2 blogs that I look at quite often

http://scienceblogs.com/aetiology/

http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/

These get loads of nasty comments from the "anecdotes = evidence" crowd. Maybe worth a look at the silly responses they get - forewarned is forearmed.

BTW, has Andrew Wakefield been struck off yet?

Thanks. I think I'll keep this up - who knows? It might even accomplish something!
