Last night I went to have supper at my uncles house. It was nice but it was so noisy, and my little cousins wouldn't stop touching me it was so annoying then my youngest cousin comes and hugs me and I about had a meltdown. I don't like noise and don't like others touching me.

What do NT's like social gatherings so much??

I think it fulfills some kind of need in their brains, the way stimming does for us. I also think NTs are better at coming up with ideas and solving problems if they are in small groups.

After 41 years I still don't have a clue. Self torture?

I have never understood the need to have large gatherings of people. I hate it.

Haha, that is funny. From now on, I will think of small talk as a stim.

Their brains are wired to be social and they don't have to worry about being the oddball.

I honestly find being in a large gathering of people sort of exciting. Stressful yes, and I often get quiet and appear more reserved when I feel under stress socially, but I like it. Perhaps many NTs find it exciting too but also generally feel more confident about themselves socially so the stress isn't there so much.

I never really knew my dads side except for his Mom/Dad which I was there living with them when they both died. My mom's I know really well she has 8 brothers and sisters. When I was growing up we always got together with my mom's side of the family and never on my dads. Social gatherings are like this: Everyone dreads it, but once it happens they are OK and if they aren't OK a lot of people live with regrets if they don't see those people, because they will miss them when they are dead. It's always the small things. Life's short. I usually like to say I don't mind being alone cause at the end of the day when there is no one but myself and everyone has gone and died who will be there? Me. You will always have to live with yourself. But, the truth is if you have family you should cherish it cause before you know it you will be all alone. All I have is my family no one else. At these gatherings I always do my normal thing, but I'm a pretty likable guy and they come to me and I am really thankful they do since I cant. I have very fond memories of a lot of my dead relatives.
