I'm starting a new job soon and I will have lots of names and faces to learn, which is a real struggle for me. Can anyone recommend techniques to help with this?

Also, I have a mild auditory processing disorder and sometimes need to ask people to repeat themselves. I'm thinking of explaining that I have a slight hearing problem so people don't get too annoyed, or can someone let me know what works well in this situation.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Names; you might want to try to apply distinct but uncomplicated and short positive adjectives to any new name that starts with the same letter as the name.

For example:
Sympathetic Sora.

About the APD thing, if I need to explain myself so that people don't think I'm mentally slow to understand them, I say exactly that. That I don't hear so well.

Yes, just say you can't hear well- that's easier for NT's to understand. As for remembering names- I got nothin'. Make everybody wear name tags? When I finally learn someone's name, then I run into them in a different place- blank.

I would not realy know, I have it as a problem aswell, I identify often an object with a person but it can be just a thought like picture you get when you think of there name. I don't realy like the idea of lying, I often say I just need to be told a couple of times but I don't know if that works with NTs and the workforce.

I usually try to go by seating. I can arrange the seating in the office by a diagram either in my head or drawn out, then memorize names to where they are located.

Of course, if I meet people in the hall or lunchroom then I'm in trouble!

I've found that imitating people is a good way to remember their names. It's not always a good idea to do so in front of them, though.

What I wanted to add last night:

The technique of the adjective + name is one people use in huge classes for example to remember all the names in 1 day or so. I don't know if it works for those with ASDs, but it works well for me (ASD) and non-autistic people, too.
