This happens to me too often! I usually have to keep asking what they were saying because it is like I just could no longer understand them unless they said it again for a few times. It is like I hear them, but my brain is not processing what they are saying into understandable words. Someone would say "Hey man, whats up? Haven't seen you in a while." and I would just hear sounds, and nothing else but just random sounds that I do not understand!
A lot of people get mad at me when I do this, but I can not help it, it is not like I am always comprehending them. When I am doing something I am obsessed with or if I am just doing nothing at all, I can not understand the person at all! It is frustrating when they are trying to say something important to me and I do not understand them!
This is very much like me, someone can tell me something that I hear everyday and my brain doesn't seem to recognise it as words, just sounds. It just doesn't register with me sometimes and I am frequently asked if I am a little bit deaf but I'm not because I have been tested twice and I actually have excellent hearing!
I am wondering if I have something like auditory processing disorder but It could be language processing disorder, does anyone know the difference between the two? The websites I have looked on don't seem to explain it very well.
