Moving out
Since my parents seem to think I don't deserve to be treated as a human being any more (what with my AS diagnosis, general failure to get an above minimum wage job and lack of relationship to provide them with grandchildren), I've decided to inquire about moving out. But frankly, the thought of phoning and travelling round to places to view them terrifies me.
I only earn £180 per week, so I won't be looking for anything wonderful or even good. But anything is better than being slowly destroyed living here.

hi- this is a real problem- i understand!
call shelter, your local law center, or citizen's advice- since you earn a low wage, i think you may be able to claim housing benifit. eg- my local council pays up to £244 for a single bed flat in hb.
do call the national autistic society- they are a complete joy- if you get stuck for words or mumble, they dont mind! they can tell you what teh best thing to do is. the problem with social housing is that one has to be in extremis, plus some- to qualify.
so- being homeless and sleeping on the streets does not qualify you to get on the housing list for a council flat. but deciding to move to england with no job or savings, and four kids- will get you on to it- massivly unfair!!
since you have a diagnosis of AS you should qualify for medical points, but you would need to be physically homeless too. if you have a sympathetic councillor they may be able to advise you some more.
you dont say what support you have otherwise- any friends you can lean on, to go and view places??
many aspies find living alone preferable to living with flat mates or families, but not all. its hard to explain to people that you dont want to socialise often. try the autistic society- its a lo-call number- on tues, and shelter too. there are also independant housing advise places you can try.
also- have you thought about trying for some other type of work, perhaps something from home, or nights? dont know why you cant get a well paid job, but aspies tend to be inteligent, just poor at socialising- jobs with animals, technical, or work alone seem to be popular,
having said that, i do not work- though i do lie to may parents and say i have a successful career!! !
best of luck!
