Am I the most alone person I know? yes

Could I use help with day-to-day tasks? yes

Do I still seem to fare well despite my obligations for my age? yes

I remember something on http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php about this, one of the questions specifically covering this.

I definitely need time to be alone and I don't get enough. I feel suffocated always having somebody around, especially since he's one of those CLINGY people. I could just scream, and sometimes I do!

too much. to ask others for a help is supposed to be a great way to bond with them. i was told.

maybe i'll just fake the needs for help.

It depends on what you mean by independent. I don't need other people to be there for the sake of having someone there, if you see what I mean. I'm independent in the sense of being able to spend an awful lot of time alone and happy with that. However, there are a lot of things I ask for help with because I find them difficult. My girlfriend makes almost every non-work phone call for me, helps me to organise my time, reminds me what I'm doing when I suddenly forget in the middle of a task, finds things for me, and looks after me during meltdowns and shutdowns. I could probably survive without her help in these areas but it would be much much harder. In that respect, I'm not very independent, no.

I'm more independent than my mother, less so than my father.

I'm struggling to survive on my own, but it is happening. For now.

Personality wise, I've LEARNED to be independent. I still crave other people around, but I've learned to squish down that desire because everyone leaves. No one wants to put up with my weirdness at all, not one person. It does suck. But you learn that you don't NEED other people around to exist... or you faceplant on the street outside your old apartment. Not sure whats gonna happen... heh.

In terms of lifestyle, and very many little things, I am an "independent cuss." I hate being forced to do things in tandem with others, (i.e. group work in school, being told "work with _______,") it's really redundant and tiring.

I am as independent as possible within my surroundings. I don't drive or cook, but I do have a job and essentially my own apartment on the second floor of the home that I share with my family. I am not lonely at all. My parents love me and I have pets. I could never have cats if I lived completely alone in a small apartment.

I'm emotionally independent, and I prefer to figure things out rather than be shown. And I don't have this killer grapsing need to talk to people all the time.

But damn if I can figure out how to mow my lawn, or successfully weed, or figure out how to change a fuse or hang a picture. If it involves motion or mechanical type things at all I'm an utter failure. The only reason I can drive at all is that I've been doing it for so long. And I'm hypervigilant, after totalling 3 cars in 3 years.

So -- yes, and no.
I wonder if having an aspie/autie roomate, one who is by nature mechanically inclined, would be a good idea.....

I am extremely independent and wanted to be independent since I was in my late teens but at that time obviously money was an issue.. maybe being independent at the time was extremely important to me because I wanted to prove something to myself (and to others) that just because I had problems in my childhood didn't mean that I was going to be dependent on my parents forever.

Without a doubt, yes.
