I wonder if this is at all different for people with normal memories. Since i remember everything that has ever happened to me and remember doing it and crap like that when i have a black out due to consumption of alcohol.... it is like what my friends tell me i did wasnt me. It was some whole other different person. It'd have to be.

I have had this experience a few times. And I feel exactly like you say.
I normally remember things in great detail, and usually remember things I say, word for word. So I don't really know what to make of these lapses at all. It's my very uninhibited alter ego I suppose. I just try not to let him get out too much.

I've had some absinthe mixed from a concentrate.
The real stuff is not legal to sell in the US.
I liked what I had, as long as it was really cold, with lots of ice.

My drink of choice in recent years is red wine.

Visited New Zealand back in '90 & toured Speight's Brewery in Dunedin. Steinlager I don't recall. The NZ brand I really liked I've not seen here in U.S. is Rheineck, that was my favorite.
Pretty much only drink lagers, not crazy about taste of beer. Dislike wine or straight spirits, only like fruity/fizzy flavors. Drink has to be ice cold, too-otherwise I can taste it too much. Don't care what others say about how beer/wine has to be room temp. to be appreciated, my warped sensory input remains warped.
Sorry this was off-topic, I saw mention of NZ beer in this thread (a few posts up from here) so wrote reply here. Not like I know how to relocate my post to some other thread.

Just a friendly reminder, if you're drinking until the point where you're blacking out then maybe you ought to consider slowing down a bit?

You'd be surprised how quickly you can get permanent liver damage in quite a short space of time when you really go for it. I speak from personal experience here.

Not to mention the reckless behaviour, risk of choking on vomit etc..

Do yourself a favour, enjoy drinking but set yourself some limits.

I have to say that NewCastle is the best beer ever, but nobody needs to drink to the point that you don't know what you are doing.

Bought it a few times. It's like one of those drinks you buy at christmas and no other time, along with advocaat etc.

I've never blacked out, even after drinking entire bottles of wine and such. Back in college (way before receiving a diagnosis), I used to drink like a fish to relieve the constant social inferiority that hampered my life.

Just one bottle? At the risk of sounding like I'm encouraging irresponsible behaviour, that's not even trying!

I'll often have a bottle of wine to myself just to chill out on a night, and then there was the guy I knew who drank a whole bottle to "warm up" before going out on the razz for some proper drinking....

Saying that, it's not always the volume that does it. I once blacked out after drinking just 3 cans of Tennants Super (that's extra strong lager for those that don't know, ask a tramp!), but not before exposing myself to my housemates!

No It's a liquor made from wormwood, it smells and tastes like liquorice and is supposed to be hallucinogenic, but the one time I managed to force myself to drink this noxious concoction all I did was get drunk. I ordered it from Spain, so I thought I was getting the real stuff but who knows. I have three bottles left, suppose I could try giving it to the neighbors dog or something.
