Okay, I'm new here, and I come looking for information. I suspect I may have Asperger's, but I am not certain. Here's why I think I could have it:

1. My social skills (I'm 15) are terrible. I constantly find I can't make eye contact or keep a conversation going.

2. I tend to rub my fingers or tap them together when I am at school.

3. I "zone out" quite often. I'm "in my own world" as my close friends put it.

4. People see me as odd, or eccentic.

5. I find that certain noises and just noise in general (eg. the lunchroom at school) make me feel like I am going to explode. I feel like I literally have to hold myself back to prevent from losing it.

6. I walk oddly. My arms stay stiff at my sides. They don't swing.

7. I perfer to be alone, reading, than to be in social situations. I spend much of my freetime at school (lunch, before school) in an empty classroom with just my teacher (or maybe no one at all) or in the hallway where my locker is.

So, could this be Asperger's. and if so, what sould I do? I don't think my parents would understand.

hello! glad you are here at WP. When I first learned about AS I also thought I had it, it made so much sense to me and before I learned about it, not much did make sense to me.
I stayed around WP for quite a while, learning from others that had been diagnosed early on in their lives and from others that didn't know if they had it or not, but as they learned, became convinced.

It took me two and a half years to finally get evaluated and diagnosed and as it turns out, the cut off is 32 and I had a 39 which I guess means I have it in spades!

so, welcome to WP. No body's parent's "understand" completely. But that can be OK if you can learn to work with what you have.

(I can't believe I beat TimTex in welcoming you to WP.)

Thanks, sinsboldly.

How exactly did you get evaluated. I mean, what did they do? A test? I'm just curious as to what the protocol of testing is. What tye pf questions? Sorry if I'm prying. :D

I don't think anyone would be able to accurately tell from your description. I've read quite a few papers and articles on Aspergers and other autism spectrum disorders, and the information you have given is rather general and inadequate for anyone to say with any degree of accuracy.

Anyway, welcome to WP!

Is this for real? Why is your name "fake name?"

If it is real, then yes, some of your characteristics do sound like they could be Aspie characteristics, although as Phagocyte said, most of what you mentioned is pretty non-specific.

Yeah, but was it literally "fake name" spelled backwards? It just seems a bit odd, unless it's meant to be a joke. When I saw it, it made me think "sock puppet," although the post seems sincere enough.

that is why I thought it was clever. I have been haunted by people that thought I don't know WHAT of me because of my 'sinsboldly' moniker that was prompted by a Martin Luther quote. I was going to use "ChinaShopBull" but it had been taken.

Yes, I'm for real. I just don't like to give out personal information, so I use the username "eman_ekaf" quite often. I like to see who can actually get it. Most people (I think) tend to overlook it. I think it's quite funny. ^^

I took the test, and I scored a 42. It says that a score of 32 or higher is scored by 80% of people with Asperger's, so I suspect that I really could have Asperger's. Maybe I'll keep looking into it. Thanks!

YEAH, TELL ME ABOUT IT! It is like someone saw ONE person diagnosed with autism that was that way and figured that was some wierd coincidence they could use. And fascinated by dates? I USED to be able to tell you dates about MYSELF, but I wouldn't even know my BIRTHDATE if not for the fact it was asked so much. REALLY, I just don't care. Same with Christmas, etc..... So if you ask me what happened in 1812, or 1492, or even 0 or 2000, or 2001, etc... It isn't necessarily because I was INTERESTED in it.

On 9/11/2001 I can tell you PRECISELY where I was standing. I wondered why so many(about 3 people as I recall) were standing by a TV. I watched in DISGUST as some IDIOT hit the WTC. I thought "MAN, WHAT A MORON!" THEN, I saw a plane hit the OTHER tower, and thought "IT IS INTENTIONAL!! !! I wonder if UBL will get blamed for THIS!" I remember the date ONLY because so many cared about it. That is interesting, because 911 is the emergency number in the US. I guess we may never know if that is why it was done, but I think several other attacks fit the same pattern.

HERE, ironically, I obscure my birth date because of ID theft potentials. But I am HORRIBLE with dates! And the idea of being good at pretending with kids? I can logically meander through it, and even almost make my own world to match, but WHAT exactly do they mean. BTW for the record, I got a 34.

BTW eman_ekaf,

I used to be the SAME way! I swing my arms now, primarily because the people in highschool made fun of me for it. The other stuff may not be quite as frequent, but it is there.
