When I took my anti depressant I started thinking to myself. Would if they made a medication that relived the symptoms of ASD? You take the pill and you practically become an NT, but if you missed a day or decided not to take it your back to your old Aspie self. Now I'm not advocating for or against a cure, I'm just curious on what people opinion on it, that's all.

If it were proven not to have any lasting effects, I might potentially consider it briefly.

But I don't swallow pills anyways.

I would too, just out of curiosity. It was supposed to be the third option in my poll but it didn't show up for some reason.

I would take it for about a week then stop for a few days and repeat. I like the clarity of thought AS gives me but I don’t like being lonely either.

I'd keep my money and spend it on obsessions that I won't be able to make any real use of. That seems smart.

I would, depending on the side effects, they always seem to be written in small print.
(may cause anal seepage, testicular torsion, projectile vomiting, spontaneous combustion, planned combustion, wiener fingers, continuous explosive diarrhea, penile shredding, navel discharge, skin failure, full body shrinkage, reincarnation, male pregnancy, post-modern apathy, black plague, deja vu, alien abduction, prenatal baldness, homicidal mania, dry mouth, dry blood, sissyness, loss of all emotion and assimilation into the hive mind, addiction, bad hair days, severe addiction, the need to sell your body on the street to feed that addiction, deja vu, lumbago, saint vitus dance, permanent penile retreat, oily discharge, fecal complexion, fear of clowns, molting or shedding of exoskeleton, inbreeding, pedophilia, presbyterianism, inability to use spoons, mystic enlightenment, funk, devil's haircut, x-ray vision, demagoguery, piano legs, change in complexion, change in ethnicity, russian accent, deja vu, entropy, siamese twin, vietnam war flashbacks, loss of balance, the munchies)

The only real problem with Asperger's in my case is the lack of social intuition, sensory overloads as well as difficulties organizing stuff. If the pill would cure that, but leave the positive traits, I'd take it.

Well, sure I'd try it if the effects were completely reversible, otherwise no.

I don't think that I would take the medication. From watching the news, I don't think that becoming an NT, or practically becoming an NT, sounds like something to look forward to.

there has been lots of cure topics on here, its a difficult subject, because no WPers experiences autism or AS the same or live the same way, some think all auties and aspies cope the same as them or stereotypically.

there are medications out there that already do relieve symptoms of ASD though not in the same way a cure would,am have been taking meds for this reason for years and am also on an experimental [to uk],meds can help with a lot of the traits, they can even bring on speech in some autists.
the only thing is,to get a ASD reducing medication, all of those have to be combined and it gets to the state of being unable to move with the amount of meds are taking in.

am do believe there should be a pill for reducing severity of autism and severe as [or severe as traits] as and when needed, it should always be about quality of life-if someone isnt getting that, what right has another to tell them they shouldnt have something that could possibly raise their functioning and give them quality of life because the other autist thinks autism and as are all in one hf,copeable flavour and doesnt want to see a 'difference' lessened?
am cant understand how a cure would work, but think an autism severity lessener pill is a lot more reachable.

I vote no, but not because I like the way I am. I just have trouble sticking with pills. The way I see it...If it does not make me better, it will not make me better. Take away the pill and the problem is still there. If it were like an antibiotic; take for two weeks and then you are done and better, then I might try it. Otherwise, no. I just don't like the idea of pills.

If the effect was transient.

I'd take them long enough to survive a job interview.

I really have a special vision of the world and that's why I don't want to change myself.
Yes, maybe some asperger's traits make my life tougher than the normal people and
years ago I did want to fix myself, however now I treasure what I have and accept my
impairments.

If all it did was help my sensory issues and raise my stress threshold, then yes, I'd take it, assuming the side effects weren't too bad. But if it got rid of everything else too, like obsessions and introversion and my way of thinking? Absolutely not. Wouldn't be worth it.
