The New York Times ran an article a few days ago about families with autistic children traveling.

I've been traveling all my life and have always loved it.

Just wondering what others here think of travel, or thought of it as kids. I imagine responses would be really varied and while I'm sure there are many autistic people who require "special accommodations" as described in this article, I'm sure there are also many who don't.

I love to travel! It's great seeing places I haven't been to before and since my attention span is pretty short, I get bored really easily and constantly crave new experiences.

If I can't stop and take in some random chicken joint I see along a road in rural Ohio, it's pointless. I mean, hell, I'd never take in the Civil War battlefields (what few are left worth visiting) if it weren't for driving.

Also, when you drive you just see so much random s**t. And cows. Lots of cows. America is owned by cows.

I love it. When I was a kid I threw tantrums when we traveled I was probably just seeking attention or something. But yea I love it.

No. I hate the change of environments and routine; these two are far too overwhelming for me.

I'd like to stay in this room my whole life, really (which is telling of how uncomfortable it is for me outside).

I don't like travelling. I enjoy exploring new places up to a point, but find cities a bit overwhelming. I go to London sometimes (I live in the sticks) to see an exhibition, but I'm always happy to get back home away from the hustle and bustle. The main problem I have with travelling is getting to where I want to be. If there was an instant travel machine (beam me up Scotty, lol) I'd travel more. I hate being stuck in planes, cars, trains etc. feeling like I need to move, walk.

Depend :)

I'm to lazy to do organized traveling. Planning months ahead isn't my thing. I do not even have a traveler passport, cause I hate all the bureaucratic stuff.

If I travel at all, then it's packing my backpack, go to the next station, look which train I can get to some nice, quiet place somewhere within Europe (Swiss Alps, Northern Italy or wherever), buy some maps on arrival and go for a hiking tour.

I love to travel, I've been known to travel in some really hard conditions but still loved every minute of it.

I don't like it when it's too hot and sunny though so I get an occasional meltdown.

When I was a kid I really enjoyed traveling by car. My parents drove up and down the coast to visit my father's family so I got used to a lot of travel by car. When I was a baby and couldn't sleep driving me around in the car always worked.

I LOVE traveling!! I haven't taken my son yet on vacation (just my daughter) but we think next year he will be ready and we plan on taking our first trip to Disney world! In 1997 I traveled through Western Europe and it was great. I still plan on traveling down the road, as long as finances allow it.
