I had my first solo drive on my Ps today it went pretty well I went on freeways, side streets and main roads. First I drove to my grandma's no problems. Then I drove home to Werribee where I live. The only minor incident I had was right at the end of my long drive home (45 min drive). Similar to when you have your sunglasses on your head and are trying to find them I must have been sub conciously breaking as i knew my street was coming up but moved my foot and realised i was accelerating not breaking it surprised me and shook me for a second but no harm done no one was behind me or in front of me so it was ok. I think it is my AS occasionally I will be thinking of something else and make a mistake be it in driving or something else. I just put my foot quickly back on the break and ended up where i wanted to. I was home five minutes after that anyway. I have to take the car back on Monday.

Wow--- that happened to me in Philadelphia! for over 2 hours I was lost, the people drove like crazy, and I couldn't find my way back to the highway. ugh.

Congratulations! Knowing how to drive is liberating in the United States, where you need to to get around.

It really takes just getting to know the area, or a map. I've lived in the DC Metro area all my life and have learned to loathe the other drivers. It's crazy alright! Drivers tend to forget about a useful tool called the turn signal and remember at the last second that they needed to turn there and end up cutting you off... I get this every day.

Yeah i am not too worried it was a small issue really no one was in danger and that is the main thing. In Australia the main cause of P plate (novice driver) accidents is stupidity and risk taking not things like that. Unlike most of the US except apparently places like Chicago and NY driving in Melbourne and most major cities is not essential in fact most people dont get their probationary licence until they are in their 20s at 28 I felt ready and last night showed that. In Victoria another reason people wait is if you are under 21 you must do 120 hours compulsory practice on your learner permit before going for your probationary licence you then have to be on probationary licence for four years with more restrctions compared to three years with less restrictions for the over 21s.

WOW! If I ever move to DC(I ALMOST DID), I would probably just stick to the metro. The exercise was kind of nice anyway, and I got a shuttle to mitigate even that.

I had my first drive thru Burger King tonight I ordered a Bacon Deluxe meal It is pretty cool to be able to do all that I like driving it gives me a lot of freedom i used ot not have public transport is good here and i still use it a lot but it is far less convenient.
