That are not technological, but cultural.

It drives me nuts when people call a knitted cap a beanie. That's not a beanie! A beanie is sewn in panels, usually six, normally has a button on the crown. It can also have a propellor if you watch a lot of Beany and Cecil.

Calling flared pants boot-cut. Boot cut looks like straight but with room for the tops of your cowboy boots.

It's also kind of silly to say dial-up internet when there's no dial...

Well, MODEMs USED tbe acoustic, and people would actually "dial" the number, and most phones DID have dials! The term kind of stuck. Dial now means to convey the number of target circuit of the telephone connection you want to make. What would YOU suggest as an option?

A nickname for the TV is "boob tube". Who knows, that term MIGHT live on a while longer, even after CRTs are GONE!
