how are the comunity persons doping since Ike?

In my area, pertty good.
In others, not good at all. I saw a report that 75% of homes in Galveston are uninhabitable. And the Bolivar Peninsula got.... well, really messed up. Here's a link with lots of before and after photos: http://jakeabby.com/cb/

Most of the people in Ohio have their power back now. I lost all the food in my 'fridge, and had to drag a tree out of my backyard; but other than that, it was an annoyance and set me off my routine more than anything else.

Around here, you don't worry about hurricanes anyway; if your house gets leveled, it's going to be a tornado.

Half a dozen people died from falling tree limbs and broken power lines, though.

Well my parents are in Nashville so there is like a huge lack of gas there. Quite insane really.

I'm in Ohio, and in my area there were thousands without power after that Sunday. I think it started out with like 80,000 without power. But it was really frustrating because some neighborhoods got theirs on within hours or a day or two but then many of us went longer. For my neighborhood it was 8 days. And yes, it really threw my routine off and by the 7th day I was feeling really panicky almost and anxious.

When the power came on though everything worked fine and luckily through it all we had no downed trees or anything like that. I know compared to many others, especially in the South, we had it pretty good, it could have been worse. But from an Aspie's perspective it was bad enough but I'm really thankful it was nothing worse than a power outage. I learned something about myself through it all though, I can live with less than I thought I could, so I guess that's good.

It started with 2 million. Most of those got power back within three days; but a significant number waited a week. There are still a few thousand without power two weeks later, people who are far away from the main power lines.

Yeah... like Ike... but really that doesn't happen all that often; more likely, the remnants act like severe thunderstorms, which don't hurt anything unless they produce tornadoes. The high winds were a bit unusual because Ike managed to tangle itself up with a weather front of some sort and gain strength before it hit us. (I think. Unclear on the details... any weather nuts here?)

Ike was a booger!!
I lost power for over a week, and just got cable (TV and internet) back on a few days ago.
It blew over a few trees and signs in my area, and I had to throw out a lot of food.

But as of now, I'm back, up, and everything is working just fine.

It took a week for my parents to get power back, and now it looks like everything is back to normal.

I am 200 miles west of Houston, though.
