Okay, I posted this in the wrong forum at first, but here goes. I got hit by a car about a year ago. Not fun.

Can you tell us about your experience with it?

I have never been hit by one.

I was in the hospital for the rest of the day, and my leg hurt for a couple of weeks.

Happened to me when I was 16. Luckily all I got was a broken leg (compound fracture). It was a shock, I was lucky not to go right under the wheels. Still spooks me to think how I nearly died.

My husband has been hit by cars three times. Once when he was five, once when he was a teenager and about seven years ago. When he was five he was hit in the head and in a coma for a few hours. He now has no sense of smell. When he was a teenager he was on a bike and got rolled under the car....just scratches. The one seven years ago he was on his bike and ended up on the hood of someones car as he was crossing an intersection. He scares me LOL.

I got hit by a car back in 1990. The car came around a corner and hit me from behind as I was crossing the street. I got lucky in i had a minor concussion and short term memory loss that went away. Could have been alot worse.

I got hit by a car once when I was going the wrong way up a one way street on my bicycle. Just had a cut on my head but it didn't half hurt.

Also, got hit by a lorry. Also on my bicycle, but this time it wasn't my fault. Lorry driver started overtaking me then for some reason thought he had passed me but I was still by the side of him when he pulled in. There were parked cars on the side of the road making it impossible for me to jump off onto the pavement and I was really lucky that I didn't fall directly under the wheels and when I did hit the floor I was able to roll away from the lorry and up against the parked cars.

That left me with 2 broken feet and a broken shoulder and I spent 2 months in hospital, but it could have been a lot worse!

I got hit by a motorbike when I was little.

I was walking along the footpath and my sister came up behind me on her pushbike and rang her bell at me and said "get off the footpath - or I'll run you over".

I jumped off the footpath onto the road and got run over.

She rode home as fast as she could and hid under the bed without telling anyone.

Luckily a neighbour had heard the screech of tyres, so he picked me up and took me home.

I only spent one night in hospital.

Sounds like me! I was riding my bike & I hit a car that made a left in front of me. I ended up underneath it. My nose was within an inch of the front tire. Had the driver been going faster, he would have killed me. I had no helmet on, & ended up with only a few scratches & I had an area of sensitivity on my forearm where I could not lean on it for a long time. My bike's front wheel was ruined in the crash...I guess you could say it sustained the most damage since I was able to walk away & had to "assist" my bike home.

I walked into a moving car and was knocked down , while I was having complex partial seizure, I wasn't hurt other then a bit of a bruised feeling on my back and bottom, the car was in the parking lot so it wasn't moving all that fast, and my neighbour was very mad at me I was just confused about it

Reposted and edited from the other thread:

Yes when I was 12 I was riding a bike and got hit by a car that was travelling at least 30 MPH. I remember hearing the screech of the tires as the car's brakes locked up, and then waking up under something that was hot and smelled like gas, and wondering where I was, and how I got there.

The bike frame protected me quite well, and all I got out of it was a couple of very minor scratches.

I was riding my bike home and I thought this car had a red light when really it was turning and hit me from the side. The brakes on the bike I was riding sucked and it was raining too hard for me to see the car's turn signal, smash. It was not moving very fast, but still, I flew off my bike and got some nice bruises and scrapes. I'm one of those people that doesn't mind pain, so I actually liked it. This accident was a few months ago. Through my jeans, I had bruises on the inside of both my knees and scrapes on my arms and hands.

I keep almost getting hit by cars while riding my bike and it's annoying sometimes because they'll honk even though I know I probably won't die. The worst near accident so far was last Sunday when I crossed a busy intersection at 5:30am, a time when it is not busy. I had a red light so it's not like this car is going to slow down for me. I'm crossing this intersection and the car is on my right. It was traveling in excess of 40mph and probably would have killed me if I had been riding slower. I came very close to getting hit and was only annoyed because this idiot honked at me for some unknown reason. I like riding in the wring direction, in between cars.
