Try putting monterrey jack cheese in your hot chocolate..... :P yum!! !

(i more-or-less lived with an Ecuadorian for a few years)

Another thing that is awesome is their fruit stew, served especially around the hollidays, arrepas (an amazing fried corn cake served for breakfast), and these things that are like corn tamales, wrapped in special leaves grown in the backyard and they are flavored with anise and raisins...yum......thinking about arrepas makes me drool.

oh...and lima bean chips.... :)

Yeah, I'd be similarly interested in trying every sane-sounding vegan foodstuff. Inspirational story, if a pretty daft quip at the end. ;)

I used to to that, when I could eat those things.

Have you ever drank Absinthe? (I highly recommend it)

Once, traveling through Arizona USA I tried drinking Mezcal. It's the stuff that's made out of the tequila plane with the worm in the bottle. Except the I drank had a scorpion. I also ate Javelina that was cooked over a open flame. They're wild pigs, and it was gamey, but not too bad.

How about snails?

I had it at a speak-easy in Hollywood a few years ago. I did enjoy it. Although I think the atmosphere of the place may have had something to do with it. It was an art gallery that had a staircase that lifted up to reveal a secret basement. As far as I know, it's planned to be torn down and the Los Angeles Police Department is turning the entire block into their motor-pool.

When they're soaked in a ton of garlic butter, they're really freakin good.

Barrying excrement, I can safely say I've eaten everything everyone on here has mentioned. Though I suppose civet coffee kinda counts as excrement, as it's made from digested excreted coffee beans the civet cat has feasted on.

Crickets, locusts, 8 types of worm, various types of larvae, snails, kangaroo, rat, mouse, pelican, hedgehog, snake, ostrich, crocodile, spider, lizard, scorpion, bird feet, various small mammals, any kind of edible plant... My list is much longer. I have a weird tendency to literally 'try everything once'. Everything is a delicacy somewhere.

And mmm, dansk ost (no 'e' on the end). I love danish food though, especially the cheeses. Even the dreaded rødgrød med fløde (just don't make me pronounce it).
