How do you deal with obsessions?
So much of my life is ruled by obsessions that they can take over certain aspects of my life. Before long, I will have spent what seems like ten minutes, but the clock tells me two hours, in researching or working with an obsession. I may be going to work and all of a sudden something sparks my interest, and I find any free moment I have in delving as deep as I can into the topic. I actually find joy in these obsessions, but they can occupy a lot of time. I am glad I get these obsessions, but I am wondering if any of you have this trait? And if so, how do you manage it?

Thats a tough one, I've found myself wasting far too much time too (wrong planet is at least something I can argue is minutely/moderately beneficial per time spent, versus some other web browsing).
IF you can somehow focus them towards highly beneficial things then it could be a big boon. I've recently started caring much more for myself in terms of exercise/fitness, eating far healthier and more nutritiously, seeing a deluge of medical specialists I've been putting off for years..
I still do need to finish learning how to drive and studying more compsci related concepts, however..

On a more local level, Focus Professional Services is a consulting organization based in Vancouver, Canada that attempts to hire people on the spectrum to act as IT consultants. They're a very new organization.
For those of us in Vancouver, there is an Aspies Meetup group; pm me if you're interested. I look forward to seeing anyone in Vancouver either in person or in a larger gathering!

Eventually, I end up having to embrace them. It's all I can do to fill that void. Like, at the moment I'm obsessed with this really hot guy named PelleK. He sings songs on youtube, and I'm listening to him obsessively. <3
