does anyone else ever experience the sensation of bugs crawling in on on your skin? Is there a name for the condition? Am I nuts?

I feel this too! It is called 'formication.' Which can be awkward when I have to tell people about it, because they always think I'm saying I have fornication.

Oh yes it's sooo uncomfortable! Is this a common Aspie sensation? I especially feel this way when I have panty hose on which is why I refuse to ever wear any.

Sometimes it happens to perimenopausal women. I've had it off and on ever since I started early menopause.

(I realize that's not much help to the OP since he's male. )

I've heard that it can be a side effect of some drug, I forget which one. But if you're taking anything, maybe call up the one who prescribed it and ask? Or even the pharmacist, for that matter - they know.

It's one of the side effects for meth.

Getting a doctor's opinion on it would be a good idea. It can be a symptom of a lot of different things.

"delusional parasitosis"

also, look up:

"Morgellon's Disease"
The U.S. government just approved a $54 million dollar grant to study Morgellon's, as doctors are in disagreement over whether it actually exists.

so far, I've heard parasitosis, Morgellon's Disease, formication and parasethesia.

I don't know why my doc won't address this.

I doubt if it's Morgellon, that one has more symptoms. Isn't that the one with the wisps of grey-blue fungi permeating the skin?

My boyfriend's mother has this condition. That's why she lost her job and can't work anymore. But I wonder how does she drive a car and not have it effect her but it effects her work performance.

Yeah, but the feeling of bugs is usually the first symptom to present. Then, people will find fibers under their skin once they start severely scratching and causing lesions.

I have a similar but not quite same issue, in that I cannot tell (by feel) the difference between a bug of some kind (crawling about on me) and other stimuli (such as wisps of my own hair brushing against my skin).

I tend to expect it's just my hair when the feeling is on my face....I once had a huge spider crawling around the hairline on my face, but because of where it was, I kept thinking it was my hair. After about an hour, when I went to brush the 'hair' away yet again, I pulled my hand away and the spider was on it. Other times, I've freaked out and jumped and squealed, and it was just my own hair (or something else brushing up lightly on my skin)....so embarrassing.

Yes, I used to get it all the time and still occasionally get it. It feels like something is crawling under my skin all over my body. At first I thought it was little machines inside of me destroying my insides implanted by the government. At one point it was so bad I tried to cut at the machines leaving scars in a few places on my body. I don't try to cut them out. What I had was "tactile hallucinations" and it wasn't caused by drugs. In fact my meds almost stopped it and they are the anti psychotic meds. When it was severe, I even felt things crawling in my brain! What brain?
