Does anyone else here always sit with their legs crossed/folded?

I dunno if it's just something I picked up from primary School but I never feel comfortable sitting any other way. Even when I am at the PC I have both legs up on the chair folded.

Yah. I used to get into trouble as a child for sitting like a guy with my ankle over my knee (and I was a little girl growing up in the 50s before girls were allowed to wear pants to school). To this day, I'm more comfortable in that pose, but middle-aged women are not supposed to sit like that either.

I sit with one leg folded under me, the other on the floor. erm ... I mean, the foot on the floor. :) My nephew calls me his one-legged aunt. It's weird in the family photos, I do really look like that.

Depends on the kind of chair I'm sitting in. Depends on how far back I sit in it and if my back is is flush with the chair's back. Sitting with one ankle over one knee is a common pose for me. What you do with your legs depends a lot on your sex/gender, I think. I would never cross my legs at the knee, for instance. I associate that pose with the female gender.

Maybe it's a weird thing, I don't know, but since people mention it, I think it might be interesting to note that as a guy, I always sit as a girl.

My right knee hollow is over my left knee, and my right foot rests almost against the outside of my left foot.

I find this position very relaxing, and even if I pay attention to it, and change the way I sit, I always return to that position.

Yes I usually sit cross-legged, with my foot on my knee. Can't often sit comfortably any other way. There's a small patch on my leg which the other leg has created because of the constant pressure. I've tried other ways of sitting, maybe on a floor cushion I can just put my feet out in front of me, side by side.

I can also get by with just tucking one foot on top of the other. I think it's because crossed legs etc. are a bit more stable, sort of locked into position so I can forget about them, like the Yoga "lotus seat" posture is supposed to do. Only that doesn't work for me because it's too painful.

I can't understand how anybody can wear a kilt or a skirt - they must be so restrictive if you don't want to show off your underwear (or worse).

When I was a teenager and young adult, I also used to love to sit cross-legged on a regular chair, like a kitchen chair at the dinner table. Trouble was, in that position I tended to take up more space in the small kitchen and I got bumped into a lot by people trying to get into the fridge. Once my dad gently picked me up, chair and all, and moved me over (I was about 20 pounds lighter).

I used to be all about sitting with my legs crossed (that is, both ankles near as can be to the opposing legs knee), but now I get severe pins-and-needles if I try it.

I tend to fold one leg under the other - which I've been told looks uncomfortable

I sit with my legs crossed the majority of the time.

It feels great!

In the chair I'm in now, I always sit with both of my legs tucked under me. My dad complains that by sitting this way I am ripping the chair, but I can't help it. It just feels right.

At school, in the chair-desks, I sit with my legs crossed like most women sit (you know what I mean?), and at a lab table or other table with a separate chair, I'll sit with one leg tucked under me.

I think I do the legs tucked under me for two reasons. One, I like the feeling of being tighter or curled. Protected, I suppose. And two, I am short. I just need some extra height to be at a comfortable level.

Yep, I sit that way all the time. It often causes my legs to fall asleep, which is annoying, but I'm not comfortable sitting any other way.

Hey, whatever is comfortable right?

BTW, if you get Sh*t for it, you could always tell them to watch "Weekend at Bernies." After they just find bernie dead, they relax him on the couch, and his legs are crossed in the girl cross pose. Yet, everyone pays attention to the "dead bernie."

Just say it, that only cool people cross their legs like Bernie.

Yes I very often sit with my legs folded indian style, but I always thought it was a habit I developed because my legs are too short to reach the floor in most chairs.

It also helps me feel more centered.

Throughout the day I'll frequently sit cross-legged. I'm sitting that way now.

I usually sit with my right ankle over my left knee. You'd think this is normal, but apparently it isn't. My cat loves it though as it's the perfect little crook for him.

For some reason, I never feel comfortable when sitting down however, and I end up wrapping my legs around something, or sticking them somewhere where they can be "stuck." Hard to explain, but the same goes with the arms and hands.
