Perhaps the definition of good mental health should be:
"The mind and body being in equilibrium with the environment/culture."
I made that definition up just now and I'm not an expert on mental health.
Perhaps extreme personalities that are in disequilibrium with western capitalist culture might be better suited to other cultures.
Therefore I believe that problems surrounding so called "disorders" might disappear the individual was placed in an environment better suited to his/her neurology. I'm not saying that some people don't have real issues with functioning: I'm saying that moving the person to a better environment could help a lot.
I don't know. I feel very uneasy about the number of people being drugged up today just so they can fit in with a fast pace/hyper-social culture.
Perhaps our bodies and minds, adapted to hunter gatherer lifestyles, sometimes struggle to keep up with civillisation. Some may be struggling more so than others due to their brain wiring, possibly though no fault of their own.

It's called Science.
Hypotheses can be falsified in the light of new evidence.
Not everyone is always happy with their hypotheses being falsified, hence there are "angry scientists".
Perhaps consumerism and Capitalist society are consequences of human's gatherer instincts gone out of control.
We've cluttered up the world with gadgetry because of it. I'm not saying that all gadgets and goods are bad, they can be very useful.
Perhaps gadgets are like a kind of modern day "magic" and serve a similar function in creating the illusion that we as human beings have control over the natural world...
