This is an interesting point, out of some sense of pride I refuse to allow myself to be defined by my medical conditions and my AS status.
I do somethings becuase I want to and NOT becuase I have AS. If I gaze out over a landscape and enjoy the view it is not me being AS it is just me enjoying the view.
But on the other side of the coin, I know that I am different from the majority. I am here with my own kind, as a result I am likely on average to have more in common with the other WP people than I will with the general population. For instance I guess that a lot of people here will eat their food one item at a time, (I do that each time I sit down to eat) most NTs do not do that. It might be something we have in common but it is not something which I think defines who and what we are as people.
I also susepct that we are good at spotting patterns, so maybe we do start to join the dots. I think that the joining the dots is one of our strengths, we should not be ashamed of it. So maybe we might think that we are just a series of AS related things. But I want to say that while it might seem that we are that way, when you look more closely we are not.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
