Am I the only one who finds it utterly horrifying to be asked to write things down, make lists or make schedules to follow?

Writing lists aren't a problem for me.
I think in list format.
"Filling them out" so they look like sentences and not just random thoughts does present a struggle sometimes.

I'm also constantly asking myself if there are any other ways to interpret what I've written, for fear of being misinterpreted.

Lists, schedules- anything written is (for me) a gauranteed recipe for failure and a direct route to depression.

no . you are not the only one. I HATE writing lists. in fact, i have an aversion to doing so, I have problems with executive function and organisation and the prospect of lists sends me batty. I am one of those aspies who is so sensory. i find the rigidity and the containment of the lists process jsut the opposite of how i am and how i live.

The only thing I've ever been able to list are shopping lists, which I can't always follow, or remember to put down exactly what I need.
I'm learning how to write lists and plan things. I end up writing down what I need to do in my planner the day after it's due.

Writing things down, having schedules and lists, are my life. I'd be lost without them. I am so distracted by so many things that if something isn't written down, I won't remember it.

In fact, I had planned today to start writing some more things down, but then I got distracted by all these interesting posts on WP and....oops.

Well, gotta go. I hear my lists calling my name....

I love doing that. 0_0

Everything needs to be in list form- even if it doesn't really matter.

A few weeks ago I was looking for some old files of mine on a relative's really old computer- and I found so many lists on Word, Excel etc. Lists of minerals, surnames, names (several lists of forenames), breeds of dogs, pet names, favourite words, colours, elements, animals, favourite foods etc

As a kid I used to spend hours writing lists of names, words, categories of various things and wasted so much paper.

Weird thing is I really really enjoyed it- and I still catch myself doing it now occasionally. This really begs the question- why on earth didn't somebody twig I wasn't exactly, er, normal? xDD

I can't follow schedules to save my life though.

Even though writing lists would help me so much, I hate doing it too and never figured out why.

I'm with neshamaruach. If I didn't write things down, I'd be completely lost. I have a PDA phone so I can write anything down at any time and keep appointments and such.

One of my favorite things to do of all is to plan and organize (such as budgets of which I keep excel documents on my phone)
I even have a list of the things that I like so that I can remember!

I write lists all the time. Once in a while, I even use them. Usually I just find them weeks or months after they stopped being relevant. I end up reading a combination of things I accomplished and things I did not. Often, I am happy that I never ended up doing some of the items. I don't let the lists get me down because I can always put the things I didn't do on a new list. Or not.

I do lists all the time. I have to check 1200 network printers once a month, and have to make a list for that..;) I even took a class on MS Access, and have databases on everything...;)

When work starts to swamp me, I find if I make a list, I can keep everything in my head (I can only hold about 12 trouble tickets in my head at a time, but sometimes the list gets longer)

Maybe I'm just used to it...

I always make mental to-do lists and sometimes even write down what I plan to do each day in the right order.
If I didn't make lists then I could never decide when to leave my home. My world would be in chaos.
One thing I can't do is make notes in lectures though.

To me there are 2 types of lists.Firstly, those I compile for leisure such as my personal
favourite music charts etc.I've always enjoyed making these.

The other type of list is one for practical purposes, such as tasks to be done.I used to have
an aversion for these but over the years I've grown to appreciate the benefit of them.I work
in a shipping office, which is a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and without learning to
discipline myself to use lists effectively I'd be utterly lost !

I'm obsessed with making lists of things regarding what I'm interested in.

And otherwise... lists aren't a problem for me.

I need to make lists and notices for myself because I find it hard to hold multiple possibilities in my head all at once - they need to be written down so that I can consider them one at a time and come back to later. But I don't like writing down my thoughts, because I can't order my thoughts into words. The thoughts I can express in words are not the same thoughts that I was actually thinking...

I am a compulsive list writer, but get too overwhelamed to actually do anything that is written on the lists.
