Recognizing others by obsession

The way I remember and recognize other WP members is by knowing what their obsessions are. For example, let's say someone was obsessed with the movie Balto. Once they said what their obsession was, I'd always think of them as "the Balto guy" or "the Balto lady". If a WP member doesn't have an obsession, I have difficulty remembering who they are. I know we aren't defined solely by our obsessions, but I feel it is a big part of who we are; something worth remembering. Does anybody else think like this?

Not by obsession; but I do remember details about a person a great deal easier than I remember names or faces. I know people by "the lady who runs the church library" or "the guy who fixed the hole in my ceiling".

I don't do this so much but I do think I do it sometimes. I mostly remember people here by their avatars.
I'm sure most people here remember me as the SpongeBob SquarePants fanatic!

Hah, we should have a "name that obsession" thread for you where you guess the obsessions of people.

For the record, my obsession is a bit odd and abstract. It is analyzing ideas and the relationship between ideas.

there's a technical name for that, I just forget what it is. It's not epistomology, but something like that.

I have an obsession for 3d art. I make my own, collect gigabytes of resources for it, and put up hundreds of piccys online (my avatar was self-made...probably obvious...

I have a theory that at a certain point, a man's libido declines, and obsessive hobbies are how they compensate...

I'm sure I'd be easily remembered then In fact, most of the people I've met know me as "that Sonic fanatic".

Some people know me as the Mario fanatic, but Mario only happens to appear in games with Yoshi! I love Yoshi...
Why aren't there any yoshi GC/Wii games?

same here. avatars are easier to remember than obsessions, for me at least.

I love Yoshi too! I used to obsess over him/them at one time. I wish he had better games... he DID get Yoshi's Story, but that wasn't great. The classic Yoshi's Island on SNES was the best. The sequel was pretty good too, actually. But Yoshi needs more love! He's awesome.

I got Yoshi's story, kinda annoying. When SM64 DS came out, I couldn't hold in my excitment when I heard yoshi would be in it. And the SNES game... it was AMAZING. The DS version is alright. In Super Mario World, I always wanted mario to be on yoshi. If I lost him, I'd go back and get yoshi before going anywhere else.

Yes! Being able to play as Yoshi in SM64 DS was fantastic! I loved Yoshi in Super Mario World too... I would get so upset if he'd run away and fall into a hole! I really loved the Star Road special levels where you could get all the different colored Yoshi babies and feed them until they'd grow up, and then they'd have special abilities! I always play as Yoshi in Mario Kart games, also.

You too? I can never play as another character on Mario Kart, Smash bros., or any other game he is in (like Mario Party, but I never play that).

The purple/blue yoshi I love. He can fly!

That one is my favorite too! Second favorite is the red one that spits out enemies as fireballs

And I also play as Yoshi for Mario Party. Yoshi rules!

There was a stone shaped like yoshi in Super Paper Mario. I was excited. Also, I'm always on the yoshi's island when playing Partners in Time.
Now I really know the extent of my obsession.

Also, last year I made a gingerbread on yoshi's island for my culinary arts class.

During my Yoshi obsession, I created a whole world based on the Yoshis in Yoshi's Island, and I wanted to make it into a cartoon/tv show. They all had names and personalities, and I drew them and wrote stories about them all the time and even wrote some songs for them. So, I certainly know what it's like to be obsessed!

My brother and I used to play Super Mario World, and I would always try to get on Yoshi. Same with Super Mario Sunshine.
