I brought my iPod to Thanksgiving at my wife's mother's house and listened to back episodes of Skeptic's Guide the whole time. :P

I love Penny Arcade. There actually was one comic that made a reference to autistic/AS special interests:

"Gabe" (Jerry) has been on anti-anxiety medication for some time now. He's diagnosed with some sort of anxiety disorder, I forget the details at the moment. There are a few entries sprinkled in their blog where he talks about it, about how things got bad enough (even with PA succeeding) that he went to see a Dr. but he put off trying the medication because of anxiety about taking medication. If you read the "side effects" a lot of psychoactive medications have some scary sounding stuff that could happen. But in the end he started. He revealed later that what got him started was because he couldn't really travel because of the anxiety. But he wanted to take his wife to Paris. He's made the trip now, earlier this year I think.

I think it *might* be General Anxiety Disorder rather than Social Anxiety Disorder in particular, but I'm not positive.

That sounds right. He'd worry about everything, worrying about what could go wrong, making extensive contingency plans. To the point of taking odd precautions that he knows are illogical but feels compelled to take anyway because of the dread. A cab ride across town would become a major ordeal. He'd get physically ill from the worry.

I worry obsessively about everything like that, eventhough I know how irrational I am being.

LOL I remember that one. Penny Arcade is great. It fits my sense of humor perfectly.
