got back from my evaluation..

I just had my psych evaluation today they gave me several tests like IQ test and achievement tests and career assesment test and and i was giving an Aspergers/autism test too. I think i did really well on the picture test and math test.. The autism test i had all of the sypmtoms like bad social skills and hook on things.. i did really bad on spelling test..

They didn't give you the results?

no but he said he was going to have the report written up by friday tomrrow and i asked if i can have the copy of the report so i could see the results.. i am want to see the results!!

Yeah, they don't want to go over the results with you until they've taken the time to write their report. They need to correlate your results to what's current in the literature about the variety of conditions they might be interested in and they want to limit the potential for you to "anchor" your opinions prior to the report. I have my appointment to get my results on the 2nd of January. The two that seemed harder for me were remembering faces and the working memory test where they ask you to repeat back strings of number or letters and juggle them around in your head. It wasn't until after I'd taken that test that I heard about autistics having poor working memory (how did I miss this before?). But anyway it kind of made sense... and I wasn't at all surprised that remembering faces seemed difficult either.

Keep an open mind when you read what they write as they are writing about you as being an 'object'. They do not intend to hurt your feelings or boost your ego. They will write an open and honest opinion (just an opinion) about what they saw exhibited during the tests. Their description of you is not going to be about who you are but rather about what they saw for a couple of days. This is a hard concept to come to grasps with.
