Sunglasses & Eye contact.

If you're wearing sunglasses, do find it easier to make eye contact with others, because they can't see your eyes (not too well at least)?

Or even vice-versa?

Me wearing sunglasses: No, I just don't care to make eye contact with people in general. It's not even that I get scared, I just have to tell myself to do it.

Them wearing sunglasses: I guess I may be put off for the same reasons as Sora, which is not necessarily an "AS thing" as far as I can ascertain.

I do not mind others seeing my eyes or looking me in the eye. But I hate having to look at someone who has dark glasses. If I cannot see their eyes, I do not know what they look at or if their expression has changed (nevermind, I cannot read the expression, but I perceive a few changes).

I don't wear sunglasses, so I can't answer that part - but I agree with Sora. I have a strong aversion to people who wear sunglasses (even tinted lenses) - especially indoors. Don't know if it has anything to do with AS, but it really bothers me if their eyes are obscured. I don't especially need to look in their eyes, but I really need to SEE their eyes.

Yes! I am much more comfortable when I am wearing sunglasses. I might not specifically look someone in the eye but I am more comfortable looking at people's faces or bodies in general. When I am not wearing sunglasses, I do not look at anyone. I look at the floor or the scenery.

-edit- as for the reverse... uh.. I don't think I really care if someone else is wearing sunglasses? I've never really noticed..... (perhaps due to the fact that I don't look at people! )

Actually, I wear sunglasses so that no one can see that I'm still not looking at their eyes. Sunglasses not only protect me from the glare of the sun but also spares me from a lot of the "shy" comments that I sometimes get during a conversation.

I hardly ever take my sun specs off when outside. I wish everyone would wear them. I don't care where people are looking as long as I can't see their eyeballs ;p

I have the kind of glasses that automatically tint in sunlight. So in a strange way, it doesn't 'help'

They make me feel slightly more comfortable, but I still avert eye contact as much as I can.

I buy colored contacts just so that I know that even tho someone is looking "strait into my eyes" they aren't actually SEEING me, if that makes any sense. I also use glasses, my hair, hats, bright lipstick, etc to detract attention from my eyes. But for some reason using contacts makes it easiest for me to look people in the eye, with glasses I still feel uncomfortable, but they have to be the colored kind and way different from my own color.
