The site mindsite has a longer quiz on various common psychiatric disorders. They use the DSM-IV-TR criteria, I think. The quiz does not include AS or any form of autism, but several other diagnoses that could be mistaken for it or are often co-morbid with an ASD.

It is here: Assessment

I think it might be interesting to know how the traits of autistic people may be mistaken for others disorders (and which disorders)?

Or which co-morbid disorders from that list autistic people may have?

I got these:
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Oppositional defiant disorder

Of course, this is just an online quiz.
It is not meant to take seriously and cannot diagnose you with anything.

I supposedly have:

Generalized anxiety disorder
Major depressive disorder
Major depressive episode
Obsessive-compulsive disorder

I believe the first three but not the last one. It didn't ask the right kind of questions to accurately diagnose me with OCD. It asked questions that a lot of people would answer yes to and I answered yes to just one of them and it diagnosed me with OCD.

Quote:
Anorexia nervosa
Generalized anxiety disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Oppositional defiant disorder
Panic Disorder
Separation anxiety disorder

Bold is what I've been diagnosed with; the other two kinda made sense to me as I went through the questions.

Hi Sora. I haven't gotten into that site yet, but I know of one thing that can often be mistaken for Asperger's---Giftedness. And not only that, but giftedness can be co-morbid with Asperger's. If there are people interested in this, you need to research giftedness on the internet and look at its symptoms. I really had to sort this out with me because in school I was classified as gifted. There was a chart with detailed descriptions of how the two conditions exist separately and co-morbidly. After careful analysis of this, and with the clinician who officially diagnosed me, it was clear that I was Asperger's.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Dysthymic disorder
Major depressive disorder
Major depressive episode
Posttraumatic stress disorder
Specific phobia

They may have mistaken ADHD for Asperger's; I'm not sure about that. The PTSD and specific phobia are both in remission currently. The rest are correct--but the same thing probably accounts for "major depressive episode", "major depressive disorder", and "dysthymic disorder"--they're all variants of your basic double depression problem (dysthymia with episodes of major depression), so really I don't have six different diagnoses; it's more like four (of which, like I said, two are definitely in remission and one may be confused for Asperger's).

Oddly enough, I nearly tested positive for agoraphobia because I hate taking public transportation! Only when I answered that my avoidance wasn't due to the fear of a panic attack did the program chuck me into the "negative" bin.

As a self report measure, this is pretty good, I think. If you're going to go to a psychiatrist for one of these problems, you could take the test, print it out, and give it to the doctor. That's often easier than making sure everything important gets into your verbal communication.

I got the following...

Agoraphobia
Alcohol abuse
Anorexia nervosa
Bipolar I disorder
Conduct disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder
Manic episode
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Panic Disorder
Social phobia
Specific phobia

Don't know how I dodged the ADHD bullet, since while I was never officially diagnosed with it, it was commonly thought as a teenager and in recent years that I had it. But then again, my mind is a mess and it's hard for me to recall so much.

The one 'diagnosis' I'm most embarrassed about from the list above is Anorexia nervosa. In my early 20s I became so weight and exercise obsessed that I actually was mildly Anorexic for a period of a couple of years. That lasted until about 1 year before I got married.

It said I have MDD and PTSD. Yeah, well, I knew that. Been dx'd with them.

It also said I have OCD and social phobia, both of which I have been evaluated for by an real live psychiatrist and determined not to have. So that's probably just my AS being misinterpreted by the test.

And fear of heights. Well, I walked off a ladder when I was 3, and never quite got over it. Oh well.

Why doesn't it test for schizophrenia? I have schizoaffective bipolar type (well, at least that's what the doctors tell me) By the way my phobia is related to bees.
