I was always taught "treat others as you would like to be treated."
I like to recieve compliments on my looks, I like to share good food, and I hate being yelled at or called names. So I always try to be my idea of the 'ideal person', by giving compliments, sharing baked goods, and being calm and rational and not too emotional.
Yet, people always mistook my actions to be hostile or condescending.
Like if I complimented a girl's outfit, she would be suspicious and creeped out! All I ever said was, "That is a cute blouse."
Sometimes, I would bake cookies for my friends and give them out, and people would be all suspicious of me and ask me if I had poisoned them or dropped them on the floor. Why can't someone just give away cookies to be nice, rather than having hidden intentions?
If someone was mad at me or something, and was yelling at me, I would never ever yell back. I never call nasty names, either, no matter how many names I am called. I always maintain a neutral face during a conflict with another person, and try to focus on calmly and rationally resolving the conflict rather than fighting. But for some odd reason, people view my calmness as 'acting superior.' Why?
