Read first:

Please pick mixed handedness if you do some tasks better with your right and and other tasks better with your left hand.

Choose changed handedness when you changed handedness or learnt to use both hands. You may pick your original handedness instead. (Do not pick ambidexterity or mixed-handedness!)

The terms right-handed and left-handed should be clear.

Choose ambidextrous if you can do all tasks equally good with either hand due to no preference.

So what's your handedness? Got something to add?

I put "right-handed," because I definitely am, although the neuropsych who evaluated me said my coordination is actually better on my left side (low average versus below average). Very odd, but I am definitely not left-handed.

Mixed, classic autism.

I use the mouse with my right hand, for example (I can't use it with my left), but I write with my left (I can't write with my right hand).

Interesting thing with this, I cannot play certain PC games because they only do character movement with the directional keys, I am left handed for character motion, unless I can use a mouse. When I try to use the directional keys, I actually want to use my left hand, but they are in an awkward position for it. I also only use the right shift key, and hate having a caps lock key. I shoot left handed in hockey, swing a golf club right, and bat either way in baseball, I am right handed in the wii controller, write with my right hand, can drink a beverage equally well either way, but prefer the right hand. I put all my weight on my left foot, I throw with my right, and do anything requiring a lot of coordination with my right. I knwo there are some other things I do with my left, but can;t think of them.

I'm right handed, but I forget what hand I use sometimes. I'll start writing with my left hand, and my writing would come out sloppier than normal. Then I'd realize that it's easier to use my right hand.

Thank you for including mixed handedness. A lot of people don't think to include that one.

Have you read Stanley Coren's book on lefthandedness? It's called The left-hander syndrome : the causes and consequences of left-handedness. If you haven't, you've read something just as good.

In between mixed and ambidextrous. Only reason for this is that my muscles haven't developed in my left hand enough to write as clearly as my right, because I got told in infant school to "pick a bloody hand and stick to it". The teacher used to pair us up on desks based on which hand we used, and I always used to switch. I picked the right because most other kids were like that in my class.

I use my left side for everything else just as well as my right.

Oh, and AS/HFA diagnosed.

I chose ambidextrous aspie. I am not diagnosed with anything though. So...yeah. I don't do the whole self diagnosis thing. For what it is worth my headshrinker did refer me to a specialist. I just didn't go.

Very much right-handed. However I am left-eyed, left-eared, left-footed.

I chose ambidextrous and I have aspergers. I can use both hands equally with everything except with handwriting where my right hand is very neat and joined and with my left it is still neat but not joined and I am much slower. I often have difficulty deciding which hand to use when doing things because I don't prefer either and am a bad decision maker.

Very interesting so far. There are more members on WP visiting this forum though, usually. So I'm going to bring this up from yesterday to alert those who haven't noticed it yet of this poll.

I put right handed. I can do things with my left hand. (write, hit a softball, etc) but I can do every task much better with my right hand.

For some reason, I can open jars better with my left hand.
