Please do tell: In what ways are you wise?
In what things do you feel you are more wiser in over other people?
And why?

Well, I like to think I'm wise in several different areas, although sometimes I do things on impulse, or get pressured into doing something, while ignoring that voice in my head telling me it's a bad idea, and end up in situations I don't want to be in. I have gotten pretty good at knowing who to trust or not, and which situations I should or shouldn't get into.

I think the reason for this, is because I am always thinking two or three steps ahead, and use logic to determine what might or might not happen. I've noticed alot of people out there just live in the moment, and don't think about the after effects of their actions.

Great thread title, forsakenly challenging & provokingly

no mind for it now, this deserves earnest conspicuation & wondering
just bookmarking this, i will be coming back and taking bows

first contribution:

it requires a certain type & amount of intelligence to be wise
it requires mainly brutal self-honesty to become wise, and be it

it requires much intelligence to become knowledgeable
it requires knowledge to become wise

it requires much (creative) intelligence to create untruth - that which IS not
it requires enormous intelligence to lie

poets, writers, artists in general, lie truth, i.e. aim to tell truth by means of lying
language is creative thought, no thought may be trusted
no tale of tongue may ever be trusted - least of all one's own choice of word

it requires distance to be wise
it requires care for truth & careful choice of word&phrasing

it requires at least being aware of one's own transgressions,
eg in terms of hypocrysie or otherwise not putting your money where your mouth is

I've said this a few times, but, I know how to read a peron and know a lot about who a person is simply by observing them for a short period of time. The longer I observe, the more accurate that becomes. This reading people allow me to do things and manipulate people in ways that are not normally possible. I still have the AS tendancies to ruin a conversation tho!

I think the most important component of being wise is being humble. Can't have one without the other.
Thusly- anyone who claims to be "wise" isn't.

Your various questions are stated in such as way as to discourage discussion. Is this intentional. If so it's very boring.

I try to be the voice of reason when necessary. I ask questions about unfamiliar things rather than decry them. I try to help people when they don't understand. I try to give advice regarding various things.

People have told me that I'm wise but I'm not sure I agree. I have good insight but it seems to hinder me more than help. I'm so skeptical that I spend my whole life second guessing things that everyone else takes for granted. It makes me feel pretty lost and lonely.

There was one incident at High School where two boys approached me and said:

"You're the wisest person we know. Please tell us what to do. We're sure you'll know what to do because you're so clever. There are lots of guys who want to attack us with water bombs after school. What do you think should be our best battle plan? We have lots of eggs and flour ready as ammunition. This is war."

"Make peace. I'm against war: it's too violent," I said (I was such a pacifist): "Wave a white flag or a white handkerchief or a white PE shirt or something. Write out a peace treaty using a fountain pen on A4 lined paper."

"We're not cowards!" one of them shouted: "We'll be soaked if we don't attack."

"If you get flour and eggs all over the playground you will be in trouble." I replied: "Don't say I didn't warn you. If you have to use the element of surprise then use it, just don't make any mess and don't hurt anyone. I don't want to get into trouble over your mistakes and failed battle strategies."

Thankfully the bell went at that precise moment.

It was kind of scary and funny now I look back on it. I mean seriously what the heck?! They seemed strangely almost respectful towards me and genuinely wanted my advice. Lol  I must have sounded like their mother or something, but they did ask. Sadly this is all true: it wasn't a tease. They really had all that egg and flour ready in their backpacks (stolen from the home-economics cooking cupboard I guess!).

I guess they had nothing better to do with their time...

Still they did call me wise...

all polar bears are left handed.
On average, 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year.
A snail can sleep for three years. <<<<----- i must have been a snail in a former life
A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. ( In your next life do you want to be a pig?)

good thread.

i think it is way easier to determine what constitutes wisdom than to actually be wise.....consider the following:

1. know what you are and be That.

2. ability to be present in the moment and to know when you are not.

3. balance head and heart, logic and intuition.

4. balance judgment and compassion.

5. realize there is no separation between anything; all is One.

6. realize space/time is an illusion

7. ability to act as though space/time is real when you know it is not.

8. know that sensory perception is an inaccurate/flawed way to determine reality.

9. recognize the fallacies in linear thinking.

So, since you're saying you're not wise, you must be.

(I realize you can't affirm that statement without risking the loss of the title, and if you deny it, I'll just think you're trying to look humble.)

:)

Yes, but those are not equivalent statements, just like:

"All pigs are not magenta" and "All non-magenta things are pigs" are not equivalent statements.

I know not to ignore people or call them ret*ds. I also know not to verbally abuse people.

I'm wise at being a weirdo.
