Online survey about life experiences and worries in AS
I am carrying out a research project to try to look at the links between people’s childhood experiences, current friendships and worries about other people in individuals who have Asperger syndrome.

I am looking for people over the age of 18 who have Asperger syndrome to answer some questions about difficult childhood experiences, current friendships and worries online at:

Alternatively I can send you a paper copy of the questionnaires. I will also send you a stamped addressed envelope so that you can return them when they are completed. If you would prefer to answer the questions on paper please contact me on the details below.

All responses will be anonymous and confidential and the questionnaires will take about 1 hour to complete. Further information about the research is available on line at the above link and is also included when a paper copy is requested by post. This research is being carried out as part of my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Will the participants receive monetary compensation for their time spend to your benefit?

Can you elaborate? You say on your profile you are diagnosed with AS well why do you need others with the same disorder? I fall under what you are looking for, I am a nineteen year old male and have AS but I don't know if I should participate in this, it seems odd to me.

Dudes- seriously! Almost everyone on this forum has taken the same tests and questionaires ad nauseum. They are verbatim the same question I answered at least a half dozen times, both on-line and for the doc.
Compensation?

Of course! Everything I do, I do for free.

No, we want to get paid for wasting our time on something like this.

I tend to agree with many of your comments, I am only passing details on as was asked and I will only complete myself if have time. I have added in case some of you wish to help this research, the problem is if we do not answer some of these surveys often the "professionals" end up with limited answers from not the real hug of the autism Community and get a one sided view, I feel we all need to work together for the future and help others understand..

It is for those who have Asperger syndrome, I guess diagnosed or self disgnosed does not seem to include classic autism as such, but I tend to think we are all under the same autism umbrella within the bigger spectrum we all have an autism core HEART as I see it anyway. please direct any questions direct to Rosie r.moore@rhul.ac.uk.

The last part is pure aspie diagnostic quiz type stuff but at least some of the beginning stuff is new.

Anyway, if you can help increase knowledge and understanding about aspergers, it's worth it.

BTW: I've done it and the survey was very easy to fill out.

Because scientific analysis requires a statistical sampling. One person is way not large enough of a body of subjects to be statistically valid. One of the larger criticisms of Freud for example is that he based his conclusions on only something like 10-ish case studies. He had a bunch of other problems too, but even without any of those other problems, he'd have needed more people for a statistical sampling. I often cringe a little when I read reports about studies where they say "we got 14 people with Asperger syndrome and...". I guess maybe it's difficult for them to get a lot of people for some of these studies -- or to pay for them if for example, with IQ testing, it's expensive to administer a WAIS-III to a bunch of people.
