How do you guys feel about stacking things? I mean I'm not totally anal about everything being in order. (I tend to let things be all over the place when I'm using them.) Sure, when I'm not using things I like them to be in some sort of order, but I rarely stack things. Like books, I put those in some sort of order (textbooks in order of when I took the classes, or sometimes tallest to shortest), but I don't make stacks of books ever. If I see a pile of coins I will stack those after a while. (Largest on the bottom and going up. (It's annoying here in Europe, the 1 Euro coin is smaller than the 50 cent coin, so I feel weird about stacking 1's on 50 cents. Same with the 5 cent and 10 cent coins.). I think that's all I stack though. Maybe I like things in horizontal order more than vertical. I like list that are vertically stacked as opposed to horizontally one after the other...hmmm...Any thoughts?

I do the same thing whenever I see a loose pile of change, I make a hanoi tower out of it. Even if the change isn't mine, which makes people narcy. I mean, it's only a few bucks, no need to waste alot of energy getting protective over it.

Yeah, I've done that to other people's change too. I always have change these days (Europeans don't seem to like Bank Card/Credit Cards as much as Canadians), so I'd always feel like stacking it. I've since thrown my loose change in a drawer so I don't think about stacking it. Out of sight, out of mind.

I let things pile up, especially now during the winter. I simply fail to summon the energy for regular clean-ups. Instead, things reach a point where I have to reserve and entire day for a major clean-up.

But then I'm the only one here.

Personally, I prefer to arrange things horizontally, having racks of books instead of stacks of books, but that's harder to find space for. So I guess by virtue of limited space and necessity, I'm a " stacker " as opposed to a " racker ".

Interesting buzzwords coined, there...

I try to order things, though often it's an order of convenience (my desk is, for example, in order- that order just happens ot be random clutter with most things at right angels to everything else).

It IS ver entertaining to stakc or watch people stak things as high as they'll go, for example, every salt and pepper shaker in a small radius in the cafeteria I frequent, with something (I forget what) on top which falls off but which DOES NOT DESTROY THE TOWER. That was very cool IMO.

My filesystem gets cluttered too. I recently had some very important files corrupted and didn't notice until I had overwritten the backups. This may have been prevented had I cleaned up my other backup drive :(

Books. I mostly stack books. But, in part, that's due to a severe lack of shelf space. Though now, I'm growing to like it. It almost gives the illusion that I have MORE.

I voted for my daughter (she's 4, doesn't type so well yet but doing surprisingly well). We call her the organization fairy. Periodically we will find things around the house mysteriously lined up in order of size.

I stack things and line things up. I especially liked going on the railroad tracks and finding odd shaped stones to bring home and try to stack.
I also stack the following:
paper clips
poker chips
bottle caps
guitar picks
magazines
cds
coins
blocks
dice
crackers
cheese cubes
candy (smarties (US), chocolate squares, etc
and of course I have legos and megablocks nanos, and rokenbok.

I have the same issue about stacking coins. It is irksome that they don't come in the same order of size that they do denomination. Here the dollar coin comes in two sizes and one size comes in two colors. The newer dollar coins are smaller than 50 cent pieces. And it will always be disconcerting that the dime is smaller than both the penny and nickel. Whose idea was that?
Sometimes instead of stacking them all together I will make several stacks to avoid the denomination problem.

Oy. I think most people don't put this much thought into pocket change.

As I am 99% sure Neant was being VERY sarcastic, I would like to point out for the record I mentioned how amusing it is to watch (though I did not mention this, NT) friends stack things in a social context. I, personally, was reminiscing.

I enjoy stacking things, and counting them as well. I had a fun experince in my local vegitarian resteraunt last week when the waiter said to let him know we were ready to order by standing our menu up. My Partner and I made a menu tower. A little later I noticed a couple at tanother table do the same thing.
