New Support Group for GLBT Autistics on Long Island

The Long Island GLBT Center now hosts a support group for the autistic people of the GLBT community. For now, it's limited to ages 18-25 on a trial basis, but that may soon change. Meets on the second and fourth Friday of each month, including January 9th and 25th. Meeting dates will be announced in this thread at least 2 weeks in advance. All meetings take place at the Long Island GLBT Center (34 Park Ave., Bay Shore, NY 11706). Directions and more information are available on their site,www.liglbtnetwork.org. Bumping to remind people again...

A reminder that this group will meet NEXT FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, AT 5 PM. I'd also like to request that it be stickied for a month or so to allow word to spread.

That's a cool idea. I'd definitely go if I was in the area.

I'm planning to work with another Long Island organization to set up another similar support group for youths, and possibly even a second adult section if feasible. Will release details if it's going to happen, otherwise all GLBT autistics between 18 and 25 are welcome at our next meeting one week from today.

Just would like to ask that if anyone here would attend this meeting if it weren't for the age restriction, please email your concerns to irene@ligaly.org.

The support group is meeting tomorrow, Friday, January 9th, at 5 PM, at the Long Island GLBT Center. Please feel free to show up, even if you aren't in that age range of 18-25. Note that this is still specifically for GLBT autistics, and NOT a general autism support group.
