I just saw the movie a Social Network last night I found to ironic that a guy who is the leading co-founder what could be argued the greatest social networking revolution of all time called Facebook has such poor social skills of his own. It is said initially before he started this Facebook thing up has hardly three friends to rub together. What do you all think do you think he has Asperger Syndrome. There are plenty of rumours he has, what do you think? .

Anything is possible I suppose I mean I know that some people with AS like me find it better to have conversations via internet then in person. What better way to do that then make a social network that has everyone hooked on it.

He's on record saying that he has been given offers to buy the company for huge sums of money but he didn't because it's his baby, and he's more interested in developing the Facebook product than cashing in. Sound like a special interest?

Just look at the guy. He is definitely odd. He is either an Aspie or a sociopath. Sort of mutually exclusive though, but if he wasn't one or the other, I would be shocked.

The way he is just so much prefers to think in code and flowcharts and be so bad at all the social nuances of person to person relationships just looks to typical of one. Particularly ultrahigh functioning autism. BTW I am have been shocking all my life at socializing with people person to person or even teamwork and I look on the internet as a kind of a godsend that has changed my life much for the better.

I've read some news articles saying he has it and in the movie The Social Network the character seems AS to me. But it's just a movie and I don't know him personally in real life.

Yes he could. But he might not be.

I can't really say for sure. I don't diagnose people. You all bring forth some interesting points.

Actually no. This is not uncommon. You would be surprised how many successful people really aren't concerned with the cash.

I wondered that after the movie. I said, "I don't know why everyone thought he was such an a**hole. The only thing that seemed wrong to me was screwing over his friend." Everyone else disagrees "What are you talking about? He was a complete douchebag!"

I think that he shows some strong Aspie traits.

Does anyone wonder if Jesse Eisenberg is also an Aspie? Aside from his "The Squid and the Whale" performance, the ways he plays his characters are very similar, and he is very uncomfortable and flat in interviews. I was just speaking with my roommate about this thread, and he mentioned it, and I had thought so as well.

People call him an a**hole around me and I just think 'well thanks.' I relate to his whole conversational style but I'm not really that arrogant - or am I?
I also pick up on his mannerisms more than other people. He's always staring off and he doesn't like to be hugged. And he was really obsessive to get Facebook up and running.
But I really can't understand why he lied to those Harvard students or screwed over his friend.

I heard him talking on the radio recently, with his monotone voice and the views he was expressing I immediatly thought ASPIE.

I was just listening to him in real life on the net on youtube I saw how he so often dodges around questions talks in an extremely monotone and a rapid pedantic style of speech as he gazes talking around the studio and failing to make eye contact. The highly moebius expression on his face seems to be almost incapable on any emotion. He does seem to have a great knack of rote speaking his way out of tricky interview situations on many occasions as well, as most of his answers are already well rehearsed and prepared in his head, like reading directly out of technical manual word for word. So typical of Aspergers.

Finally got around to seeing The Social Network today, can definitely agree with those who say he's got some form of autism. Speaks in monotone, avoidance to being hugged, seems reluctant to form close relationships and his obvious obsessiveness hint at this strongly.

He's obviously very high-functioning (otherwise he wouldn't get as far as he has,) but it's hard not to see him as having some form of Aspergers or HFA.
